Rumblings of a union rep coming to town for a steak filled Q and A. This a good thing or bad? Some on the floor have been pushed to hard.

@5fbh What investors? The workers?
A Union is a fraternity, a community, a society governed under a Constitutional Democratic governing model learn what you're talking about before you speak.
@3qjk So you're a coward and a scab got it!
@6der Labor unions barely ever ruin businesses.
I'm not saying that it has never happened, but it is very rare, The Big Three is one of the worst examples you could give to support your argument.
The big three left America because of greed, because of union busting plain and simple.
The UAW and the Big Three had a relatively good working relationship but corporate fat cats are just waiting for an opportunity to sc--w workers no matter what if it can produce any sort of increase in profit.
When General Motors ra--d my hometown of Flint Michigan by leaving they were ranking in a record profits.
Your Union dues comment is also pretty ridiculous only somebody who is not informed would say something like that.
Waco just su-ks now. No help from management if you have a problem, and that stupid mo--ns in HR are even more worthless. How the doors are still open is unbelievable. Also, thanks for the 2% pay raise. Which is an insult.
Just to clarify zero non union aircraft mechanics want to compare paychecks with a union aircraft mechanic I understand
Oh yes, Exelis was just performing great prior to Harris takeover. Just ask Lockheed and Raytheon how they were doing on GPS & OCX.
The union I belonged to for over 20 years was proactive in vetting new candidates being considered for employment. A candidate had to complete a 40- hour technical skills course and pass the test. Then, they worked as a temporary employee for 3 to 6 months. During that time, both the union and management evaluated this employee before they were offered a job and a union membership. This collaboration was the result of years of trial and error. Experienced craftsmen were the best qualified to evaluate new hired. The result was an employee who had the skills to make a contribution to the company's success and maintained the reputation of our union local as a place where skilled workers were represented. Upgrades to the next level up were based on length of service, acquired skills, and contribution to the success of the organization and of course, the budget.
This all changed when Exelis, (formerly ITT) was acquired by Harris and Bill Brown. The union was shut out of the vetting process. This was exacerbated when Harris merged with L3. The following changes were made;
#1. The union was shut out of the vetting process.
#2. The test at the end of the technical skills course was abandoned.
#3. All candidates in the class were hired by the company, regardless of their skill set.
#4. New hires were automatically upgraded to the highest pay level.
The results;
#1. Workmanship and product quality plummeted to levels never seen before.
#2. Absenteeism increased dramatically.
#3. Costs increased as unskilled workers were given minimal or no complicated tasks, forcing others to do more than their fair share of the difficult work.
#4. Morale declined as there was no longer an incentive to work for an upgrade since new hires were often paid more than the people tasked with training them.
These changes were all mandated by corporate in the name of "equity".
If you decide to unionize, please understand that this company will not cooperate with the union nor will they respect or honor any contract entered into with the union. They will fight you every step of the way and in the end, your jobs will be gone. In Clifton, during our first contract negotiations with the newly formed L3harris, the company refused to negotiate and threatened a lockout if we didn't take their first and only offer. We had to force them to come back to the table under threat of legal action. They have been working towards closing Clifton ever since.
If you think all of this is hyperbole, ask anyone who has spend the last couple of decades at Clifton. There are still a few left but the company is rapidly getting rid of any witnesses to our past successes.
L3harris is a shyt company.
Good Luck to all.
Just do your research
Unions are known to either prosper or ruin businesses
Look at the big 3 almost all USA plants have closed or moved overseas
When you do the vote lock in 24 months of no dues and see the response if they agree they legitimate
If not they just greedy fools

Hey d-mb hunt county boy ask the salary folks if they wish they still had the same pto with option to buy 40
A union will not protect you from the company's plans to end your jobs it that's what is planned. L3Harris is cutting costs. It was mandated by the board of directors. Any group or facility that gets more expensive is going to put a target on it's back. A contract with a union will force the company to pay higher wages, (maybe) and pay more time off (maybe) and pay more towards a pension (maybe). But you will pay as well.
We have been represented by a union in Clifton for over 50 years under 4 different companies; ITT, Exelis, Harris and L3Harris. The union did not stop a single union person from being laid off unless they were friends or family of union officers. (They were bullet proof.)
Your union, like ours, will be in the company's pocket, just like ours. And when the time comes for layoffs, in spite of some 2-year "call back" thing, not a single laid off union member was ever called back (unless they were the aforementioned friends and family). In fact, they are currently replacing laid off union members in Clifton with new hires from a temp agency. The company has the right to do that as long as it's "temporary" which can last as long as the union doesn't complain. (Some were temps for more than 2 years.) They assume you will get tired of waiting.
If working at L3Harris has become too toxic, a union will be too little, too late. Just dust off your resume and seek another job while you still have one. Better than wasting your energy on a bunch of crooked paisanos who are just going to make money off you.
REMEMBER: The union is a business. They exist to make a profit for their investors just like any other company. They are not the sisters of mercy and they are not your pals.
I would like to comment about Greenville local
First you have to be there so long to get 200 hours of PTO
The only way to get 240 is roll over 40 or buy 40
I am just a d-mb country boy from Hunt county but if I have to buy something that’s not a negotiation freebie
Plus during the latest layoffs the local has done nothing trying to help members find new jobs
They will get you paid more but look at Greenville probably will closes down within the next couple of years
Save your union dues you will need them shortly, the union will not reimburse you for them
Everybody have a Happy Thanksgiving
The current Waco Management does not any outside help to further su-k the life and soul out of its remaining people.
240 hours pto
Anything over 50 hours is double time
Triple time on holidays
If you hired in before 07 pension still going up every year
Multiple paid premiums available not sure how the UAW ruined Greenville
Topped out A MECHANIC ANY Waco employees want to compare paychecks? I know the supervisors here hate to compare
I will say to union supporters that I am for the union but I will vote against it when the vote takes place. If you are against the union it is essential that you vote no when the vote takes place. If you do not show up to vote that is practically a yes for the union.
I will not be joking a union no matter how many others do.
Wasn there not a meeting last night at Heitmillers? Or was that another crazy rumor that wasn't true.
Waco will not unionize. They have tried it before. They rented a room at the Clarion Hotel, had maybe 30 people show up. They said they needed a very large number/percentage of people to "pledge" to vote them in before they would even try to get a vote going. People in Waco will not unionize because memories are very long around here. Too many people remember the unions being the supposed cause of the shutdown of the General Tire plant. And a lot of those employees now work at L3. We will not unionize here. We see the BS that goes on up in Greenville and we want no part of it.
I hope it’s not UAW they have ruined Greenville
The typical tactic to unionize is that organizers come to town and set up a dinner somewhere off site where they make a pitch to prospective union members. Then they will offer union membership registration cards. They will offer to waive the initiation fee for first new members. It's all a bunch of nonsense. Whether or not Waco unionizes will not stop the company from doing what it wants. If anything, it will accelerate the closure of that plant. The only thing the union will do is take a percentage of your gross pay. We've had a union in Clifton New Jersey for over 40 years. And they didn't prevent anybody from being laid off, harassed, or discriminated against. Go and have the free steak and that's it.
