Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Let me get this straight...

Verizon exploited the pandemic as an opportunity save money with a new commission structure. They also redeployed a bunch of people to WFH where (oh by the way) it will be much easy to lay-off remote agents in the future.

The whole narrative was designed to ditch mid-to top performers without a vsp.

Way to exploit a pandemic! Might as well be first on the scene to a car crash only to steal the guys wallet. I think we know now that Verizon “runs towards crisis” to exploit it.

And now with the money they are saving from top performers who left and lousy comp structures it is time to buy tracfone?

You can’t really make this stuff up. Ronan is getting praise for this! This is madness. It’s like an episode of teen mom that won’t end and Ronan is Gary.

@3vxe+16Y7ytli Top tier salaries are readily available. Just google Verizon executive salaries. You can probably find the SEC filings too.

How many of the top brass took a paycut?

Top C-Level employees know exactly what i made last year compared to this year

Can we get salary information from top brass? Id like to see if Hans Gruber took a pay cut or is he still taking over Nakatomi Plaza and rob us all

I read somewhere on another post that has been sticking with me, i don't trust, believe or have faith in anyone in this company with a pay grade higher than mine .

C Level is operating on 2.0, us minions below that are micromanaged on 1.0. , does this make sense?? Are we in Bizarro world with this company ?

DM’s are defending the micro management of 1.0 metrics cause its our pay checks, i get it, you wanna look good to your directors... let me ask you this, why? Whats the point?

You take the pay cut so that they can get their bonuses. Lets face facts, vzw leadership doesn’t know what to do. They just cut stores, employees, perks, and benefits until they themselves look good.

RMO is the legacy Kansas/Missouri area.

We’ve got one of the most dynamic leaders this territory has seen in a decade. Straight-shooter/knows his stuff.

To the single parents who lost 40k per year on the new comp plan. Which meeting will resolve that?

To caregivers providing for disabled parents injured in a car crash. How do we fix the 20k differential in their pay?

We are talking about people’s ability to provide for their loved one’s.

In a healthy company, leaders eat last. In a healthy company every struggles a little so that nobody struggles a lot. Leaders know that they work for their employees so that their employees take care of the customer.

Verizon is really broken. If Krista, Hans, and Ronan didn’t take pay cuts, why should we?

What is RMO?

RMO: (Not the place to go)

I appreciate you addressing the concerns of the people and acting as a liaison. It sounds like the gears are turning in a healthy direction.

My concern is that:

  • No town hall is going to undo what is done.
  • No manager meeting is going to bring back the people who have already left.
  • No territory call will give everyone a chance to share their real thoughts without judgement.
  • Retaliation is real.
  • And no funneling of information is going to redirect the decisions of VP and above.

Although I appreciate the sentiment, sincerely. The damage may already be done.

Can you change my mind?

You will have your chance to tell Aaron about it soon. He’s really trying to get in front of these comments and thoughts with calls and manager meetings.

I agree 100% though! Verizon pulled a fast one!

If they were looking to save some money, they would have stayed closed on sundays. That still doesn't make any sense to me. Nothing good comes from being open on sundays. The company could save money by not paying the shift differential for SM’s and SS because let’s face it, GMs don’t work sundays.

I was a top performer. The truth is other companies are looking for allegiant people with a Background in sales. Really simple formula.

Most of you top performers are good with putting up with some tough customers, your insulated or you wouldn’t be in sales, and you are quick and efficient (maybe in bed) but mainly with transactions and people appreciate that because it shows them you value their time.

Go get on a boat before you are shoved from the dock.

“And now with the money they are saving from top performers who left and lousy comp structures it is time to buy tracfone?”

I am a top performer and have been for 15 years. I pinched myself everyday in disbelief that I had the opportunity to make 80-100k every year. It wasn’t hard to figure out this bubble was going to burst someday. It was a great run though I will say that. Other then possibly moving to telesales very few top performers have left the nest. Let’s face it I like many of the top performers in the company didn’t do anything special. What most did was exploit the commission structure to make as much money as possible. The formula was simple , help as many customers as possible and not spend a lot of time with them. Get them in get them out. Multipliers were everything and putting up a high upgrade count was 100% key . With all this said where are the top performers really going to go? Not may companies are hiring and it’s the worst possibly time to look for another job. I can deal with making 50-60k a year just puttering around in the store going through the motions.

If T-Mobile is so much better, why are you working for Verizon?

Everyone ra ra’s the company line by saying verizon is the far superior carrier, i can tell you, T-Mobile doesn't treat their employees like this.

I have never worked for a company like this , say one thing out of the left side of their mouth and than turn around and say the complete opposite on the right side.

Tell me as a rep that we aren't 1.0 anymore, we are 2.0 customer and employee satisfaction but than micromanage numbers like we still running 1.0

Talking a customer out of upgrading is more beneficial to us now days because they will probably get their accessories online and decline insurance. Also not have to pay an upgrade fee. I actually get good surveys by not selling them a phone. Quote “she was honest”. Well thanks but i just didn’t want to deal with the hassle haha.

@reply (my short-sighted friend)

Lucky guess: probably a DM with an associates degree. Been working on that Bachelors for 3 years from the University of Phoenix.

Lots of kool aid. Lots of leadership programs and Harvard business training on VZ learn.

Give the uneducated a little bit of power and they know all the answers.

This is 100% accurate. All of the changes made and retell especially were planned for years and the pandemic was used to quickly put these practices in place.

The company has this radical social agenda now. we're part of our community let's volunteer we're not laying people off. It is all smoke and mirrors.

Just look what Hans to Erickson when he ran the show there he barely escaped prison.

Verizon sent pretty much the whole workforce home as the result of the pandemic. Currently 10% of the workforce is back in the office, so no they didn't sent you home to lay you off. They can lay you off just as easily in the office. Talk about paranoid.

As far as "top performers", why should they stay? If they are that talented, they should take their talents elsewhere where they can make more money. So are you saying everyone who is left isn't worth what they are being paid, since all the mid and top performers left? Sure sounds like it.
