Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Lighthouse

Seems very disorganized, everyone seems confused, & will be a sh-t show.

Opinions?

Suresh was a true fool. Remember when he announced in an interview with American Banker that “BNYM had created their own currency” and suddenly regulators were crawling up @sses? He was dismissed within a week.

He was all hat and no cowboy. Just couldn’t stop bragging. He could have simply stated that they were playing with blockchain to get familiar with it and were awarding people with trinkets for earned blockchain points.

@3ykb, turns out the self-driving cars Suresh was always trumpeting about is vaporware too. DECADES later.
I remember him in one of his town halls mentioned about his goal of cutting P1 incidents by 30% or so. He got mad because no one recalled the percentage 30 minutes later. I'm sure it's because everyone else had a goal of reducing them 100%.

Just the latest scheme (scam?) to let good people go and bring in new, highly paid people that will put us in a bad position and then leave for greener pastures, rinse and repeat!

@2ini

If Suresh ever produced anything at all of value I must have missed it. Suresh spent 100% of his time marketing himself until we all learned that the emperor had no cloths.

Wasn’t there someone on here who was making Suresh out to be genius who was not appreciated by management?

I had a good perspective on his reign and everything he developed was vaporware. The company was out selling clients on this new ecosystem under development that would transform the industry.

They’re still waiting.

@1acv

To this day I cannot comprehend how Risk Management and Audit allowed Suresh to dump gigabytes of data into Digital Pulse with no classification of data, no controls for accessing the data and no records of which employees were accessing which data.

Where are the regulators when you need them?

It’s almost comical because they’re selling. This thing is the greatest thing to ever be introduced to the bank, but in some of the meetings I’m in with pretty senior people, they sound less than excited and very subtly joke about the lack of direction…. &/or they’ve been thru this before.

@1ayr, apparently you never heard of digital pulse.

This project is the worst waste of time ever. Too many mouths involved that have zero clue about the processes they are trying to automate and clearly take over from the ones doing it

Has Robin ever actually led or managed anything? Somehow I get the impression that he was a career bureaucrat in Senior Management in all of his previous positions. A leader is quite different from a highly compensated debating society.

As always a cool name with no plan, no leadership, not even a cool Organic Growth Powerpoint.

We haven’t had a leader since Frank Cahouet.
