Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Team discussions

Recently sat thru an open team discussion about 2020 Hindsight - my boss was soliciting feedback and discussion about 2020 - specifically social issues around Covid, racial, social, and political issues, etc. and our thoughts on the company's position. This is a directive from above....

Anyone else????

That video lacked any real context so it was not well done. And I didn’t attend the meeting bc I was already scheduled for PTO that day. I’m not sitting around talking about how being born a certain ethnicity is a problem because some comedian they employ said it made me a racist simply for being born. If you treat all people as you want to be treated, that should be enough. I’m not reading books, watching videos, or anything else for AT&T. It’s a job, and they don’t get to decide anyone’s values or opinions. I’m not recording my volunteering or otherwise either. I don’t do these things to make AT&T take advantage as if they created my heart for service. You get me 8 hrs M-F. That’s it. My life is outside of this corporate joke.

@3ylw, mods here don’t care if the posts are positive or negative towards the company. the racist comments are the ones getting removed, cause derogatory speech towards groups/individuals is against site rules.

Why are negative comments about Att being removed from this thread?!

So glad I’m a temp. I just collect my check and go home. When I want time off, I tell the bosses that I have a sick mother to attend and instead go enjoy my two weeks on the beach. So glad that I’m not relevant enough and looked down upon as a temp that I miss out of all this stuff and performance reviews! And oh, I can post what I want, donate to who I want and won’t face retribution because companies don’t care enough about temps to be in our business. And yes, all my debt is paid.

All they tell us to do is not cough on the customer, don't fall off your ladder and sell the Protection Plan so it can pay for the Managers bonus.

Att has definitely used the pandemic to their advantage! Warner Media is no longer a legendary Studio, but now a 4th rate streaming service. WM has laid off KEY players to accommodate the new TECH ,'Fan Boy', Jason Kilar, claiming the pandemic prompted them to make these decisions. An Att insider told me, they had plans to purge the older employees at WM, WAAAY before the pandemic hit, but were able to cut even deeper with Cvd. Att/WM jumped a the opportunity to lay-off 90% of the white, $$$, 'OLDER', talented/knowledgeable people, to bring in new, young, 'WOKE' interns with ZERO experience. Att has offered 40k+ packages with forced retirements. Att is the absolute Worst Company around, and Att can't blame that on a pandemic!

The World Economic Forum’s perspective for global engagement as a result of the COVID-19 crisis is termed ‘the great reset’. Conspiracy theorists are again planting seeds of misinformation that the initiative (The Great Reset) has nefarious intent.....that the global elites are using the pandemic to advance their agendas. Righting the global economy will take a massive, global initiative.....that is what the WEF’s goal. This conspiracy theory should be dismissed just like the the other nut bucket, baseless lies.

"AT&T HR covers up racist behavior!!!
@1pyn - you're about as blind as you are stupid.

I've worked at AT&T many years and have never witnessed anyone saying a racial slur, implying racism, engaging in racism, or even telling off-color jokes. Not sure what you are referring to as "covering up" but I suggest you provide solid proof before you start spewing "racism". I've never even heard someone telling me someone else engaged in racism.

It's painful to be the victim of racism. It's equally painful to be accused of racism when none exists.

So go ahead, show us proof before you play the racism card.

The Great Reset made the cover of Time magazine. Conspiracy? I think not.

‘The Great Reset’ is just one more crazy conspiracy theory. Just another big lie. Just like Pizzagate, created by nut cases and fueled by wealthy organizations and individuals who have their own agendas. These theorists would be laughable if taken at face value; but we know these people and their ‘theories’ are dangerous.....

I was fuming when that call ended. AT&T is playing at being woke with this hindsight c-ap and their stance on GOP political contributions. I remained silent the entire call and the next day cancelled my minimal PAC contribution I was “encouraged” to donate years earlier. I’m retiring this year because of their benefit threat so I’m just going thru the motions now when it comes to the wokeness their forcing on us. The volume button on my computer is always off while the stupid video runs

It must be horrible to have to smile and nod in order to try to keep your job. It is demoralizing and all this pitting folks against each other, painting people as victim or victimizer is the definition of a truly hostile work environment. When corporations waste time with these shenanigans are they truly interested in the company’s bottom line? That is an obvious no. Look out folks, while they pit you against your coworkers, the Great Reset game is afoot. They are hoping you don’t see what is going on until they accomplish their end goal.

The good ol' mentality of "what gets measured, gets done." Stank is getting a nice power point slide on diversity conversation. Nothing is changed but more blowing smoke.

Yes. When I was told to share my thoughts I said that I didn't think this was a topic for work and said nothing else.

What a crock of sh–his whole diversity thing is another waste of company time.

Putting folks in uncomfortable situations, with little to no feedback other than the caucasians speaking about how awful racism is. Actions speak louder than words. Storytelling time is not something minorities want to talk to caucasians about. The hurt is done, apology is not accepted. Do something about it.

Obviously a mandated conversation as our group had the same one...most people clammed right up afraid to say anything at all during the "discussion" after the mandatory watching of the video. Except for the white folks that were compelled to admit their bias and privilege.

Yes, I had it too this week.

Direct orders from Stinky and on goals for 2021.

First was marked mandatory and later voluntary only. Right, don't go and to the top of the whackibg list you go!

"Team"
hahahahahahaah....keep losing customers and none of those management buzz words will matter.
Being "woke" don't pay the bills. Nor does lip service.
They would rather you got hit by a bus than care about what us plebes think.
Smile and wave. Be smart enough to play stupid.
What a joke.
