Contact Center exempt from RTO?

The contact center teams (24 HB) are mostly remote, with many in the southern states where we have no presence. Newer employees, grades 6/7. Word on the street is that they are exempt from RTO. Can anyone confirm? If so, why?

Hiring so many employees remote was short sighted and irresponsible of the Senior Call Center leaders. It’s approaches like this that made employees lose trust a long time ago.

Notice how they changed language from data security once they realized we were not buying that BS since we still work 2 days a week remotely and there are tons of workers overseas handling client data. Then they changed language to culture and collaboration even though most of us will just sit in our desk with headphones on speaking over team or listening to music.

That’s a BS answer. It’s is 100% for CRE purposes. Those restaurants that closed during the pandemic aren’t going to magically come back from bankruptcy and reopen. People got used to spending money on goods and services near their homes and will continue to do so. Leaders who think this is magically going to fix downtown areas are severely misguided. The rest of us adjusted. We aren’t paying for parking, we aren’t going out for lunches or staying late to hang around these areas. The only thing that will fix many cities is increasing the amounts of affordable homes available and turning the business metropolis into housing metropolis. Put homes in these buildings. Build grocery stores, indoor play areas for kids, indoor pools, etc and revitalize that way instead. Work changed when COVID hit. We spent 4 years being told we were doing amazing working from home but now that the company is going to miss out on tax cuts because of crooked deals made with cities, now it’s all butts in seats. It is obvious and the corporate gaslighting around it being for collaboration and face to face is disingenuous. Business changed. We as a company need to as well.

If they're truly grade 6/7 that's probably the answer. You want to trade places with them just so you can RTO? That's very low pay, no disrespect to them, but it is.

RTO is all about revitalizing certain areas that have not recovered after Covid

Doubt they would mess around with call center workers. Why offer a severance when it’s a turnover mill. Just do not rehire after they quit

Yea, call centers and any department that handle client data can’t be remote, therefore, we are moving all departments to Poland or India, where our data can be secured by employees working remote oversea.

Also, clients data are safe the other 2 days you work from home. But if you work remotely more than 3 days a week, it automatically triggers hacker to receive our sensitive client data, therefore you are only allowed to work 2 days a week at home, to protect data-

What's funny is there is no dissemination of info and employees have to come to an anonymous board to try to find answers.

Oh but nooo… Call Centers can’t be remote right? They work with confidential information and information security is one of the reasons for RTO… right? Right?!?
