Retail Rep here. Been with Verizon about 18 months. Worked Telesales WFH for about 4 months this spring, now back at the store. Got offered a permanent Telesales position. Still trying to decide on wish is the better career move over the long term. Anyone wanna chime in about which is better career-wise in the long term (5-10 years)? Which is easier to get promoted up the ranks? Telesales pays about $5000 more in commission per year than retail if you can hit the numbers. Single male, mid-thirties, just bought a house, owe $10k for car, $10k for student loans, 20min drive to work... if any of that makes a difference in your answer.
My other concerns are:
Lack of social interaction from co-workers physically next to you in telesales.
It gets old repeating the same stuff over and over for 8hrs every day.
There's no variety in the transactions. It's always sales. Everything else is a transfer. Good for the money, bad for variety. How long till doing the exact same thing over and over gets so old you can't stand it?
