What is everyones thoughts on how Macys will deal with associates who have underlying health conditions who are asked to return to work. Trumps guidelines state that under phase one, vulnerable individuals such as elderly people and those with underlying health conditions should continue to shelter in place. What if you don’t feel safe to return to work ? In fact Trumps guidelines state that people with underlying health conditions shouldn’t return to work till phase three.

I think we are talking about 2 different issues. The OP and my response addressed the question of employees in the higher risk category for the virus.
Your concerns is with under and non-performing employees.
Both questions worthy of comment but they are 2 different issues.
I understand compassion, I agree with your comments.
However, if you can't do the job, this is no longer a situation of hand outs or having other colleagues picking up your slack.
Going forward we will be understaffed, no problem with that, totally understandable.
But we now cannot afford to overlook those who don't or cannot pull their share of the work load.
There is no longer room for those colleagues that think they can clock in and get a check for merely ringing a sale, those days are over.
And it's about time!!!
I can certainly understand the concerns of the OP and believe they have posed an interesting question. I think it's fair to say we are experiencing the 1st worldwide pandemic of modern times with a death rate that is estimated to be 3%-4%. For comparison Flu death rate is below 0.1%.
Pandemics don't last forever and hopefully by next year there will be a vaccine. In the mean time I feel affluent modern societies should help us all get through this. Leave no one behind for the relatively short time it takes to get through this.
Not to in anyway get political with this but I mainly find myself siding with the republicans. Strong competitive business creates jobs, competition to fill job openings creating increasing pay. you know blah, blah, blah. But in the case of this pandemic I think we should feel compassion for those more at risk as we all get through this. Neighbor helping neighbor.
Is there any mention of signing up for health insurance. H.R. services says they don’t know what they’re going to do about it. I need my health insurance!!!!! But they’re going to blow off fireworks on the 4th of July.
If you are in the elderly, underlying conditions position then contact HR services when the time comes and explain your concern along with the current guidelines

semantics
Local governors make the stay at home order and in Michigan they are still saying not to go out for the elderly and those with underlying health issues. So it’s not freeloading if your a person who it can possibly put your life in grave danger . Trade places with someone who has COPD or heart disease etc
Basically, you either work, don't work, or free load
If your not going to work its gonna be a tough road to find a job
