Audit Reorg

Does anyone know the details of the upcoming audit reorganization? I heard audit senior managers were meeting to discuss details. Was anything decided?

I’m sure we will have the men’s conference offsite this year as well.

IA needs to be cleaned out from the top down. 95% of the directors and above have no idea what is going on. They don't know how the audits are run, they don't know their coverage, they don't understand risk assessments, etc. Some directors think we can test 20-30 controls and audit. Which is a joke since the line of business can't even tell us what their controls are. It is just a joke. They just react to the flavor of the day:

"The regulator brought this up in a meeting, how do we audit it/did we audit it."
"Charlie mentioned this on a conference call"
"PR said our audit hours are too high, how do we cut audit hours"

This reactive mindset just results in fire drill after fire drill, which burns the AIC's out and leads to turnover, which leads to people getting promoted (75% have no business being promoted), which leads to audits just being disasters causing the staff to leave.

The bigger shakeup is needed in IT audit, the EMEA team (if they could be called that under the clown) and improved credentials. Currently , there is a total lack of purpose other than fill in the blank exercises (not even plural).

Ineptness for auditors at wells has reached a new low.

Probably has to do with all the internal fraud gen Z tellers have been committing. Probably found these opportunities on tik tok. Laziest generation ever, they make millennials look like gladiators.

They’re sending auditors to branches for “full branch audits” different than the yearly audits they normally do. Instead of audit questions they are counting down all drawers vaults and atms. .. something’s going on

I know there were multiple off sites/trainings going on in the first part of the week. Vibe seemed like all the extra people in the office were in a good mood, people randomly gathered in aisles chitchatting with coworkers they’ve never met in person before. It was borderline distracting. Not sure that would be happening if they were all here to plan a layoff. There were also a lot more extra people on the floor than I’d think are high up enough to be part of that process.

They sent out that email Wednesday with organizational updates for new CAO/Practices teams, but that was just more fleshed out details of a reorg they’d already announced/outlined back in November.
