Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Covid Vaccine Should Be Required

Chevron shouldn’t allow anyone back in the office or work around other employees unless they’re vaccinated...And they get vaccinated every six months or as recommended by CDC or other Health Org of whatever country the employee is from.

Change my mind.

It won’t be required but at some point, Chevron will probably incentivize you to take it. For example: You want to work unmasked? Get the shot. You want to get on an airplane for a business trip? Get the shot. You want a job offshore or overseas? Get the shot. If not, that’s fine too but don’t complain when you are limited because you didn’t take the shot.

Ditto! Thank you for your service to public health to all those who stepped up to take the vaccine. Salute!

To those of us who have taken the vaccine: Thank you for helping put an end to the pandemic and for doing your part to help get life back to normal. To the rest of you (not including those that have a medical reason for not taking the vaccine) Thanks for nuthin you selfish SOBs!

I am another who got the vaccine and was happy to, but NO, it absolutely should NOT be mandatory, for a number of reasons.

Chevron will not mandate an experimental dr-g that has not been proven safe and effective. The liability is to high.

For anyone who has ever used a port potty in the oil field....why the F would you ever worry about what’s in the Covid–19 vaccine?

@4gsu, well that's fine that you are a good Samaritan, just don't try to influence others to do as you wish, many could be like me, who cannot get a vaccine for medical reasons.

Others around you will benefit from you getting the vaccine even if they choose not to.

@4ijm So, it's clear that you would like to force your ideals on those around you against their wishes, just to be clear. Well, No, I'm not down for that.

It is great we live in a country where we can choose for ourselves whether to get the vaccine or not and the government does not force us to get it. So be grateful for what we have in the USA and at the employment level do the right thing for yourself and the people around you.

Conspiracy tunes would change if there was incentive to take the vaccine. If CDC said we’ll pay you $1,000 to get vaccinated, the ignoramouses would line up!

Where are you getting that information from? I took the vaccine. It was free so no problem. I will just have to live being protected while you sorry saps die a very painful death.

What is the purpose of getting the vaccine anyway? Studies have shown the vaccine is ineffective. The group taking the vaccine is actually more susceptible to the virus than the group that didn't.

Who cares? Either you take it or you don't – no one needs any justification. It's a free country, but do take responsibility for your decision and don't keep blaming others if it backfires. So, please stop the useless banter.

They will check if there is a lawsuit brought about due to spreading the virus. They will leave no stone unturned and people deceiving the company will probably end up not liking the outcome. Not sure if unethical people should even be trusted with company assets or decisions on those assets.

The fact is @3azt, that you are not in any position to throw the book at anyone. If Chevron does ask me to provide proof of any vaccinations as a condition of continued employment, I’ve already committed myself to give them false information. They have no right to ask, so they won’t. But if I’m wrong and they do ask, they’ll receive what I provide them. They’ll just check the box, say thank you and not go any further to check. I’ll be back in the office doing my job. Believe me when I tell you, I won’t lose a nights sleep about it.

Providing false information to your employer would be grounds for termination with cause. They probably could not go after you for other damages unless you had some deal tied to your ethical behavior. I would throw the book at you for falsifying a vaccination record you scumbag.

@2eof, Thanks for finally admitting what I’ve tried twice to get you to understand and admit— the record of a person’s Covid–19 vaccination is not recorded in databases at the Federal level. So, we’re on the same page. Thank you.
As for you, @3jwm— No, I would choose to provide false information to my employer and not be upfront with Chevron, as they are not always upfront with their employees, and also because it’s none of their business.

Being upfront with your employer and refusing to take the vaccine is one thing and agreed possibly defensible. But knowingly providing false documents to your employer is an entirely different issue. Unethical and hardly in line with The Chevron Way.

Wrong
Either CDC or the state, county health department has a record of your vaccination. If you lose your card they can reproduce the information. You have not gotten the shot so you don’t know the process. When they check you out they record the information on a computer. It may not go to the federal level but it is recorded so if you have a reaction they can track the specific vaccine bottle.

@2nfh, Allow me to wake you up. You’re correct that your Doctor or the clinic that administered your COVID–19 surly has record of it. But if you go back and attentively re–read my post, my point was “there’s no centralized database” that exists as of now that will confirm or deny my having taken the vaccination or not. Nobody can call me out if I produce a falsified COVID–19 vaccination card. They have no way to prove or disprove it. And about your assertion of records with my insurance company, again you are mistaken. Many people have been allowed to get the shots for free if they are uninsured. I can always claim that’s what I told the nurse where I got my supposed shot. So, I hope we’re clear now in that Chevron or nobody can ask me to get the shot as a means of being allowed to enter go anywhere. But knowing just how the Left wing and the woke people think, act and plot to control people’s lives, I’ve already obtained very convincing vaccination cards for me and my spouse.

@2gdv: Wrong. Speaking from personal experience, I know that my vaccination records, COVID–19 included, are with my regular medical records. I've seen my records and I now where they are maintained. Health insurance also has record of vaccinations. You get a COVID–19 vaccination card so you can carry your COVID–19 vaccination record with you at all times....in case you need to prove that you have had the vaccine. Wake up!

@2wtq+1aufIxi3

Not true. Why do you lie?
I didnt take the vaccine, and i still work for Chevron. And per chevrons own policy, they will not “force” the vaccine unless the government requires forcing the vaccine. This information can be found in chevrons covid–19 FAQs.

Again, “my body my choice.” What happened to that?

It is a workplace safety issue. If you dont take it you don’t work here now. Once the COVID–19 virus is gone from the world you can reapply. At that point they should welcome you back.

The CDC card is an official government record. You could go to jail for this offense. But they would have to find out who you are first. Why don’t you post your name and see what might happen.

@1qkv, There’s no need for me to imagine anything, as I work for such a company already. But just in case Chevron decides to “strongly encourage” (code word for obligate) their employees to get vaccinated before coming back to work in the office, I’ve taken my own precautions. I downloaded a blank template of the COVID–19 vaccination card off the internet, printed it on medium heavy card stock paper and filled it in accurately, copying the information from my cousin’s card. I’m good to go, in case Chevron would like to see it.

@1nqb, You clearly don’t understand the law. Chevron cannot just change or introduce a new policy to force employees to take the shot or be fired for cause. That’s ridiculous. If they do change or implement a policy like you suggest, at best it would apply to new hires who come through the door, and certainly not existing employees.

Some people who don’t want the vaccine are so spoiled and don’t know how good they have here in the US. Other countries like India and Brazil have a big problem with COVid . Other countries cannot even run the logistics to attempt to give the vaccine. It is no coincidence that the US is successful in the vaccination of its citizens. After we are done here in the US we will turn our attention to helping the rest of the world. After COVID–19 is over we should never put up with any anti US rhetoric from other countries.

Imagine taking a job where you’re “amply compensated” with great benefits, 401k, and bonuses every year... then the company asks you to take a soon to be FDA approved flu vaccine to protect the workforce and the public and that which will help keep production going. Imagine that!

Imagine thinking its a good thing that a company can legally fire you based on private medical information.

@1acy: Chevron clearly says we are all at will employees which means we can be fired for cause. If Chevrons policy is to vaccinate or to dr-g test and an employee refuses then he/she can be let go. Sue to your hearts content.

There are some hospitals that are requiring mandatory vaccinations to keep your job. They are within theirs rights to have this policy. Chevron is no different. Why do you not want to get the vaccine? Seriously. And having the reason “because I don’t like being told what to do “ is just not a mature way to look at it.
