Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Who delivers the awful news?

Is it your manager, HR (People Team), or both together?

I’ve been there. My advice is to apply to a few contracting companies. You can be working in one to two weeks if you have a college degree, longer for an associates degree.

Well, you haven’t been here very long so that does sound right. The vast majority of employees are here for 20-30 years. They’ll get 2 weeks per year. You can’t expect that after working for a year. You will get unemployment.

To put it in perspective the vast majority of displaced workers in Financial Services receive only a handshake and a two week paycheck.

ugh it your manager reading a script and then you are left with automated sites that don't f-ing open and are useless . 18 years of perfect reviews dropped down to this cr-p.

A year paid vacation? Some of us will get two weeks severance and a kick out the door. Try paying your bills on that. Not even time to FIND a job, let alone start one and get a paycheck at the new one.

Awful news? A year paid vacation + unemployment, an exit from the the dbags running the place, this isn’t awful. Best news was that the dbag manager that studdered reading the script from HR, got let go in a later round. Reimagine that…

What bad news? My manager delivered the good news by reading a statement from HR claiming my position was eliminated.

It was just my manager. Didn't even say thanks, goodbye or good luck. Was too interested in getting my email right. Bozo

What clowns. Birching about SUB, the sole benefit we have that is competitive. These tools would be whining if they hit the powerball.

Typically, your manager will read a statement prepared by HR.

Make sure you waive your right to a jury trial (included in the 30 day notice bullsh-t) before the layoff.

Fu-k this place.
