Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco UK

Checking in after a while. How's it going everyone? Beginning August none of us work in the UK nor do we take any PTO, because no one works at Cisco in August anyway.

Anyone come across our SE Leader recently? Has he given the "Change is the only constant speech yet"? If not, wait for it. The philosophical look, the nod of the head and out comes the rant. Very helpful I am sure. Anyway, hang tight. t's not all bad. Job market is slowly opening up. Maybe things will even be better by the time these numpties are done taking their dirty diapers off.

Oh, I almost forgot the "best place to work" chant from DM. May his beard get a thousand lice.

I am really getting irritated at this continual koolaid fest of "best place to work" and other hypes here. One of these days I'd reach the limit on these Webex whhoplas and do something really offensive to this draconian management. A good way of inviting an LR I say. The place is death warmed up. If they don't clean the overlords in the UKI, then we are all dead with them. hanging in there for a LR package. Been here for over 14 years, not to just f*ck off with nothing because the machine keep squeezing us.

If they don’t take this last opportunity to clean house in the UKI from the top , then there is no hope. It’s game over for all of us based out here. The empty hype will go on, the patronising lectures, culture of gaslighting … everything that is toxic will stay alive. They need to radically change the SE top management, VP and MD if they wish to bring any positive change . Laying off IC folks will not make any difference at all as it has not in the past. Sales is dying if not dead already, SE team is depleted to the last limit after everyone who were good left and the rest of the senior people either laid off or pushed out by sh!t kicking line managers hand picked by the top to do their dirty deeds.

B0ll0cks to Bedfont. There is nothing there anyway, only people who work are the POC engineers and whatever remnants of developers there are, all in Building 11. Building 10 is sales and almost empty . Building 9 has not seen a customer or had a POV in donkey's years. The the SE lead ki!!ed it all off

The same people who fill out TGPTW are the same ones who post far too regularly in the General chat for BDLK.

"Best place to work in the UK".

I wonder who votes for these surveys when there are no one to vote for them any more. I am guessing the useless first line managers and other managers who need to brown nose it to CP and DM. That is why the micro-management has gone up to such an alarming level. The management monitors and actively censors what is being posted in internal Webex groups. People get pulled up, threatened with PIP if any post goes against their draconian rules.

That question that arises in mind is where do the management get the time to micromanage people to this extent? Don't they have anything more productive to do with their own time on company money?

Oh, by the way, "Change is the only constant". Hope that piece of wisdom helps when you get hit by the LR call and have a family to feed and a mortgage to pay.

That IoT room on the ground floor which used to have enthusiastic apprentices working on Raspberry Pis, soldering boards, the 3-D printer, the Lego IoT train set and other kinds of free learnings is all dead now. I have not been in that room for a long time, at least 2 years - but last time I was there, I saw that someone had stolen the fridge and the sofa despite there being a CC TV. Talk about epitome of mismanagement. Everything fell apart under the current SE mangement.

Agree. I am at BDLK right now and it’s deader than dead. More security personnel on a Friday than actual blue badge Cisco people. There are some dedicated POC people in Building 11 but many of them are Red Badges. The SE management has ki-led a thriving tech community in the last 4 odd years via unnecessary politicking and witch hunting. Nothing but free air now.

BDLK is a lost cause. They'll shut the place down soon enough. Look at the regular posters in the General Webex chat and tell me it inspires you with confidence.

@1qle+1u5c9zbz Amen to that. And to the OPs comments too. This may be the very last opportunity to drain the UKI swamp. No more ICs left here to let go. It’s a top heavy org. Way too many in the managerial layers for people left. The cleansing need to start with the SE too management, otherwise nothing will stop the death spiral

Bedfont Lakes is dead. For a change, I hope they lay off the management layer keeping a skeleton structure. Take away the almighty power of the local SE director who grabbed EN, PubSec, Commercial - everything back in 2020 and has wrecked it all, business wise and people wise.

The urgency of a change in VP, SSED, first and second line managers cannot be overstated. They don't do anything, don't even bother to show up for customer calls, a manager spends a month in Italy while "working remotely" and customers breathe down our neck due to rubbish being sold to them at atrocious license fees. SEs have no backup at all.

We need a change in the management asap! Not many ICs left here any more anyways. Anyone who was any good left already without waiting to be LRed.

Well said. It’s almost 5 PM here. Beer o’clock. Monday or not. Let the sheeple sweat it out. Only one life to live. Change is the only constant. Time to change my stale beer .
