Hybrid or remote, what will you choose and why
@3voc+1rxAJpNr - Would love to know what small office you are referring to. There’s a small office 55 miles from me…1 1/2 or more hours one way with traffic. There is not 1 member of my team in that office and I was hired as remote over 14 years ago. I can’t fathom driving all that way to fight for a desk and work off my laptop when I have dual 24” monitors in my home office.
@4uwp+1rxAJpNr They do not care, they will just take that to mean your Dell career is over
they closed the office in my state during covid. relocation is not an option for my family. I don't want to use my job. hr what am I supposed to do?
I was hired remote no office within an hour.
There's a small office in my city, but it's not one of the "major metros" locations. I opened an HR case to ask whether going there and badging in would count, and was told no, and was explicitly told to choose remote.
I was in inside sales and we are being forced to choose hybrid. There will be uproar about this as 90% of people myself included want remote. Anyone else the same, ie forced to choose hybrid?
Hybrid = Building Tag
i would do hybrid but the 39 days is a joke.. they should only ask us to come in for trainings or team meetings and then we go out to lunch together once a week.. other than that i see no benefit to it. especially since no one ever gets promoted.. i will most likely select remote. already applied for a few new jobs in anticipation of this just being a cluster..
Field Sales for the win! No office return requirements!!
Remote.
Majority of people I know will be selecting remote.
You only have a one-time window to select remote. Don't squander it.
People coming to this website will largely pick remote (only people who want that are concerned with the current situation) but a majority of people I know of in CSG will be going for hybrid. Most of them already have been doing hybrid since last year.
DG/EMC vet here. I'll do what me and the good ole boys did for decades. Wait to get laid off, take the severance, and then in a year they will hire me back for more money. In a year this hybrid nonsense will be over and Leadership will be focused on another squirrel.
just like what lawyers do, bury the other side with a ton of discovery and paperwork. HR won't have the manpower to do the necessary investigation as to whether people that choose remote should be hybrid. They're going to get buried next week.
remote
Not clicking any button. I have a remote contract, always have and in the UK it’s unlawful to change a contract without consultation so they can change my status to hybrid on the system but that’s not the contract I’ll be working to. Let’s see what happens. What could possibly go wrong :-)?
What ages are y'all picking remote or hybrid?
Hybrid. My local office has a homeless and crime problem with people breaking into vehicles and asking for money at the main entrance. I bought an old $3000 car, I am not taking my newer car to the office!
Remote of course. Really no upside with hybrid.
They can hand me a severance and say goodbye if they want.
No problem with that.
Remote! I live over an hour’s drive each way, but I have a feeling my manager will deny it as most of my team is going hybrid.
I’m choosing remote, despite living fairly close to an office. (None of my team will be there, so what’s the point?) If I get denied,,I will just keep working remote until they fire me or lay me off. I’ve made peace with not having a future with this company.
Remote. Don’t live by an office.. hours and hours away. Let’s gooooo
I am not going to click any button. Then when I am let go for not showing up, I will show them the letter from my manager and HR in 2015 saying I was remote and the remote stipends they paid me.
Remote. There are no promotion opportunities in my organization, and I don't envision any meaningful raises so best to focus on being happy than being miserable in a Cube.
Noneya because i said so
Remote while I continue to apply elsewhere.
Remote, over 200 miles away from the nearest office. My team is scattered around North America and Europe.
Truth of the matter is Dell is a horrible place to be.
Same situation as @haq+1rxAJpNr except about an hour from nearest office. Will opt for remote, but won't be surprised if it gets declined due to proximity to office based on what I've been reading in other threads the past couple of days.
hybrid
Remote. Everyone I work with is based in other cities, countries, continents. Why would I drive 2 hours each way to fight people for a desk three days a week just to be on zoom calls? A waste of time and money.
If you live next door to the main campus go remote
I’m choosing remote but I have a feeling it’s going to be denied.
I have "remote till i die" tattooed on my forearm
What happens if I don't choose? Does it mean I get a "guilty" verdict enter on my behalf? Will they require you to click-through a legal disclaimer to say the choice is made not under duress and you have no legal recourse?
Remote. I've no choice. Closest facility is a 14 hour drive.
remote, don't have a choice and was hired that way....
Remote and the second I get a denial email I’m applying everywhere else.
the server will crash due to all the simultaneous remote selections
Remote. No question.
remote all the way baby!!!
