Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

SPS Done This Week?

GK has gutted the fish called SPS. Round four of our divisions layoffs are confirmed for tomorrow. Not many talents left. Just bu-t kissers at this point. Are they selling off the remaining worthy IP and just calling it a day?

Accept it for the gift it is. You lived through one of the worst corporate experiences that the US in the 21st century has to offer, and came away still able to think and feel. It took me a few months to decompress after the COVID RIF, but I assure you that your healing journey has begun and things are already looking up for you. You've got this!

@9onc+1jVIFpg4 I am so glad you are in a better situation. I will be honest I am extremely bitter and angry at Honeywell now and it's been over a month and haven't landed another role which makes me even more pi---d. It's bull sh!t how they treated us and I am so mad at Honeywell. It's honestly a fraud company and they treat you horrible. Hire and lay off just before the holidays. It has ignited my depression and I am so mad.

I have to say I too had PTSD-like symptoms after being let go by HON. It took a bit for me to realize HON employees were more of a "cult-like" sect than a true group of employees. All thinking the terrible treatment was warranted! I have since found another job; a closer commute, real flex time, free benefits to me and my family from day one, a true $1-$1 401K match, 4 weeks vacation, 13 paid holidays, and a defined career path upwards with goals and milestones. I am treated like a valued member of the team for once!

I just want to say, no matter how down you are after getting let go- it can and will get better!

I'm free now and its awesome!

Honeywell will not have 4 business groups next year ;)

@6qhb

Charlotte is the global headquarters for the entire company which consists of four business groups: Aero, HBT, SPS, and PMT. Why would anyone think that they will close the global headquarters because of issues related to one business group? SPS is not the whole company... far from it.

@5pgx+1jVIFpg4 so you think they will just close the CH office and shut it down? The city needs to take back all the tax breaks or whatever they gave to Honeywell

SPS is certainly done. We have nobody left to get anything remotely done. It’s a matter of time before the doors are shut and locked. They won’t tell us before hand either.

Truly astonishing how poorly managed Honeywell is. Utterly astonishing.

How can there be constant, CONSTANT, talk of furloughs and layoffs.

This is not normal for a company. It’s absurd.

How can anyone invest in this company? If my finance people told me they were buying HON stocks I’d demand they did not and if they do, I’d find another person to manage my money.

This has to be the most mismanaged company in the planet.

So any insight on what's left of SPS? ENG. R&D, ISC? Specifically, FM & NJ is what I am asking about. I was dumped in September. Most coworkers in October. Can't imagine any NPI being able to continue if the names I heard being canned are all true.

I’m a former multiple time 1 block employee who too got RIFFED in November. The only thing that matters is the profit margin. How HON makes the money is another thing. Most unethical place. Do a good job? Get laid off. Kiss your managers a$$? Stick around. Wow, just wow.

I have to believe the influx of new hires across SPS in Q1 and Q2 was intentional. That way some JR employees could be sprinkled in with the better (read- higher cost) talents being let go in Q3 and Q4. Thus there can’t ever be any threat of discrimination suits. Ponzi employee she’ll game. Just like the profit statements.

I want to echo the others here. Do not worry about your layoff. I've known around 40+ folks that have been laid off, and in every single case, they are doing better now than the rest of us that are left. Many have received greater compensation, signing bonuses, stock options, and real paid vacation. Most went to smaller companies that are able to be responsive to customers and thus they have a greater sense of accomplishment. If I weren't so old, I'd be gone too. But I like what I do, I just don't like Honeywell and I'm gonna hang out for a little longer. I'd never recommend Honeywell to anyone.

@4vye+1jVIFpg4 God no, do not for one minute think it was to do with you or your performance. I can tell you now that Honeywell is currently leaderless, there are people in charge who genuinely have no clue what they are doing. Unfortunately you have been caught in the unraveling of the business.
I got the push out too and was a 1 / 2 block employee, performance is now meaningless.
I am sure you will find a new position fast and realize you may have actually been lucky, it has actually turned out to be the best thing that could have happened for me!

Perfect example that those making decisions have no idea what they’re doing - seems like it’s all trial & error and let’s just see if this or that works (cost of hiring people one month, only to incur layoff/termination costs a few months later - multiple departments & 3rd party companies involved in both of these processes). Doesn’t seem to be any responsible or thorough research occurring before these major decisions are made.

Sad to hear your story, wishing you luck in your future endeavors. Imagine you had been with the company multiple years (and very successful, promoted, etc.) and the same happen - blindsided with a layoff you never saw coming… sadly that’s the story of too many of us. Speaking from personal experience, I also couldn’t help but feel I had done something wrong - but I had to remind myself that wasn’t the case; I believe in my case it was a ‘personal’ one-sided opinion (of a new manager) because I know it had nothing to do with my provable high performance in my time with the company. Surprisingly, this site has also helped ease my self-doubt; although disheartening to hear this is happening to so many people, it definitely puts it all in the correct perspective. Just remember, everything happens for a reason and you’ll eventually land where you are supposed to be 🙏

Was shocked by my lay off. I was only hired few months ago. They even hired additional people in our team. I am so angry and sad. I don't understand how you go from being able to afford 3 or 4 extra hires to laying everyone except one person off only few months later.

Part of me feels like I did something wrong.

GK has no clue how to run SPS. He is a tool that tries to run the company like a spreadsheet. He has no clue how to make SPS successful. The guy is a narcissist who isn’t at all one bit concerned with what HR might say. As a matter of fact it seems like HR encourages his behavior. I don’t get why HON keeps putting finance folks in charge, they have no idea how to run a highly technical organization. This is a joke of a company.

Welcome to corporate America where money talks and companies toe the line of investors wishes in ensuring profits pours in come rain or shine which in this case rain refers to booting someone out the door. This is the culture that has infested the very society of this country. God bless America and those dollar notes.

Signing Off,

@2mvp+1jVIFpg4 It’s greed at the top. Stock price must stay up above all else. Gotta get the holiday payouts for the executives. Is downright vile how the band 3 and below get treated because of this toxic mindset.

@nwr+1jVIFpg4 - $hit rises to the top, and unfortunately for HON, it stays there.

SPS is a mess and people who were laid off were treated like shi*t. I don't understand how a company has money in June to hire new people suddenly layoffs those same people winter. It's such bs. It's people life they are playing with. HR was also really cold and rude when giving people the layoff news.

Of course there wasn't any managers or directors show out the door. Rif or sacking anyone is a top down approach therefore, the higher you are, the better chance of being retained. Call it unfair, disgusting or any other name, its how the corporate world works.
Getting rid of people that is actually doing real work? Don't worry. The actual work to you or me might not be actual work seen beneficial by the ones above therefore, whoever that was doing that work is shown the door. Simple.

There should have been a lot of managers and directors shown the door but no we ejected those actually doing proper work. It goes to show the disconnect. As rightly said, nothing makes sense any more.

In Intelligrated they recently asked for people to leave voluntarily, it'll depend on how many people left voluntarily relative to the forecasted work. We'll see.

As far as leadership positions are concerned, many have quit for positions in other companies.

Curious if this is new news from the company or rumors going around?

Also wondering with all the rifs that occurred recently, has anyone heard of any managers or senior supervisors or directors being riffed.. ? (Haven’t seen any at my location, curious if this is a trend - of course doesn’t make sense to keep the higher paids that aren’t even actually doing the day to day work lol, but nothing makes sense anymore)
