Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

IT impact

“ General and administrative (G&A) costs are expected to remain flat relative to 2024, and expenses related to IT systems upgrades are projected to decrease significantly as the project will be recalibrated through 2025.” Any guess on head count reduction?

It seems the people/person who started this discussion is no longer with Cenovus and is clearly out of touch with the actual events that took place. This relates to the CVE budget release and the Core program, which had no involvement from IT and was managed fully by CPMO. The core project that burned through $180 million, was ultimately canceled as it was on the verge of exceeding $1 billion in costs, leading them to halt further losses. I know this as I had people from my area assigned full-time on the core project. For those commenting here who seem disconnected from the facts, it appears you may be struggling after layoffs. Instead of blaming others for your current situation, perhaps take a look in the mirror, focus on making positive changes, and work towards securing a new opportunity.

Ok, so we end up with a whole bunch of unqualified folks that call themselves as "SAP" professionals. A number of them are "accountants". We had a CEO accountant once before, I think that's enough. The company is spending more and more money, this is very inefficient. It's another reason our stock price is not showing any upside.

IT employees (more evident with leaders) do not have credentials, certificates or even worse degrees. If they bring qualified contractors…. it would be like shooting them selves on the foot

IT hires SAP contractors with hourly rate of over $130/hour.
A number of those "consultants" do not have any SAP licenses. What do you expect?
