Judge approves bankruptcy extension

http://www.kccllc.net/windstream/document/1922312200422000000000002

Judge Drain yesterday approved Windstream's request to extend its bankruptcy. These are the new dates:

Windstream has an exclusive period to file its plan or reorganization until June 22. That means no other party can submit a competing (hostile) plan of its own until that day. Windstream can negotiate with creditors during this time without having to compete with another party seeking to take control without management's support.

Windstream then has an exclusive period to then solicit votes for its plan from various stakeholders until August 22.

you are correct we went thru alot of this in 2008-2009. Lots of people close , our SMB market takes a hit. We'll have lots of write offs. We'll see the beginnings of that in Q3. Event less cash in the bank than anticipated.

I can't imagine Covid-19 is going to help our numbers with all the small businesses affected and all the layoffs.

I like bankruptcy. We get to keep the doors open while we lose money.

Yeah!
Most everyone will now be able to keep their job until June.
Put another splint on the old mare’s leg. Come June, we’re gonna have to shoot this horse.

We run out of operating cash by July. Not sure we really need that extension.
Q1 results will tell us our trajectory this week.

Everything that has happened from now to 3 years before bankruptcy I’m was poor decision making Even the EarthLink acquisition doesn’t make sense. That deal was the final nail in the coffin and management arrogantly speaks of synergies.

First class network if it were 1995. I have never seen so much end of life equipment. You still provide DSL service in every major market. If you get internet from Windstream in a major city there is a good chance its provided by a Paradyne DSLAM for DSL and riding a Lucent DMX back to to central office where it hits a Cisco 6513. No lie, this is their network. Its an embarrassment.
