Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

This is only the first round - hold my beer

my director in ISG told me this is only first round - there will be a second round before the end of Q1 -- smaller than this round, but still another go at cuts. dir told me 2nd round will start soon after new kevin is identified. given many other changes at vp/dir level at dell tech -- this is not limited to isg. dir said final goal is closer to 15%

don't get comfortable - dell is downsizing big time

Where I'm at there is no Legacy EMC leadership. They were driven out some time ago. Just Legacy Dell good old boys reducing EMC to ruble.

I would agree on most of this, except for one thing. EMC leadership has been pretty much defining where Dell goes for the last two years. It is more than obvious they have no idea how to manage a business this large. They are focused on one product line, and one product line only.

Of course there will be more layoffs. Dell products are cr-p. The tools & processes are cr-p. They totally screwed up the EMC acquisition. Leadership is incompetent. Oh and Dell just agreed to pay 1 billion for defrauding investors.

Maybe. Maybe not. Nobody truly knows but, the BIG layoffs are done in the US. There will always be smaller groupings of layoffs year round. That's how every company works, but to act like there are "more" rounds of "big" layoffs is laughable.

Correct. And this one isn't over till May as there is moratorium at the moment (WorkDay), will continue in March/April/May and then the next round.

There are always layoffs every quarter. We just don't hear about them because they are a small number. Usually when you hear about it it someone you know.

LoL. See now this is rhectoic from layoff past.
They haunt these forums cause they cant piece their lives together after getting laidoff.
so they need to promulgate the doom to fill the void

move on.

i hear that guidance will be down for fy24, as consumer sales take a blood bath and enterprise declines . .. they are cutting deep everywhere; the pause in cuts is only to see what economy does and how q1 numbers look
