Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Will layoffs continue tomorrow?

I see here there were layoffs today, does anybody know if more are planned for tomorrow? It's sad that I have to find out something like this has happened on an anonymous forum, but I guess when transparency is not the strong suit of the leadership, we take what we can get.

For new UK employees in the last year or so, they get statutory minimum (plus notice), which is square root of bu---r all.

8000 jobs globally are being made redundant at this stage, and they have advised their may be more to follow to save money and reduce costs.
But all the senior leaders got paid millions in bonuses this year!

People WFRd in the US this week will be separated on 8/31. While terrible, it's better than the previous administration when you were notified Thursday and locked out of everything on Friday.

This analytics story is absolutely true and definitely need to happen rather than indiscriminate firing. Thanks HR

What you fail to understand... there are people on the payroll who run analytics off your DXC domain accounts, compare against the title you received from JAQ (either you or your manager filled out), compare your salary versus what you're billed against the assigned account, and determine if your role can be done cheaper by someone already on the account (or could be transitioned to your account and do it cheaper).

That information is known weeks ahead of time and filtered to your local account management. They have a set number of days to reply, justify or prove the analytics were wrong, or pick someone to take the RIF instead of you (possibly a coworker who was already planning to give notice).

So, to clarify, if you live and work in the USA, you can turn up to work one day and your employer can tell you there and then that you are to be made redundant!? - no notice!?

I'm from the UK, so never knew that about the USA, that's terrible!

Do you get redundancy pay? As far as I'm aware in the UK you get something like 1 weeks gross pay for every year of service, and 3 months net pay whilst you go on 'gardening leave' I'm sure that's what my ex-colleagues got when they were WFR'd. Some used to grumble that they weren't given a notice period they had to work, but that was what the 3 month net pay was - in theory to pay you 3 months salary whilst you look for another job, as opposed to working 2 weeks notice period whilst you try to look for another job at the same time!

@ald+1ihkMF7P Thank you! No one people in the UK want to be riff'ed! They have it made! So if they want to cut 500 million fast it will have to be where regulatory 'Notice period is legally required! So we on this side of the pond our in trouble.

Let mike go for cause and we save 28 million. Cause is he doesn't follow DXC values.

No notice on the promised August 1, 2022 having our increases in our paychecks or at least notifying us if we are getting a merit increase, how much and when we can expect to see it

  1. Do what we say ere going to do
  2. Do the right thing

The US does not impose any regulatory 'Notice period', other than by exception in the contract or a collective bargaining agreement. Thus DXC won't notify if they don't legally have to, especially on small teams which might cause unnecessary disruption, stress, security risks, sabotage or just plain being sensitive to those that are unfortunately let go on a given day.

That's why this site exists for such communication between groups to pinpoint the countries, services, business units, etc. Although if its done, it is done and not likely to be repeated in the same area on different days.

In Europe, there are legal requirements for notification.

In the UK for example:
No notice if staff member employed less than a month.
1 wk's notice if employed between one month and 2 yrs
1 wk for EACH year employed between 2 and 12 years
12 wks notice if employed over 12 years or more.

Thus for those with 12+ yrs service, you can work those 12 weeks for the 12 weeks pay or leave early and take the pay in lieu of notice. This is in addition to the redundancy payments that arrive a week after your notice period end.

Any site making more than 20 people redundant is HR1 notifiable to the UK govt.

100 employees = 45 days notice.

@rod+1ihkMF7P - No, you don't need to worry about turning off the lights mate.

Platform-X has smart AI integrated with the building systems and it would turn off the lights and HVAC for you. We have sold this to our large customers who are also working on workforce transformation.

The layoffs will continue until DXC is no more. Will the last one out please turn off the lights?

They will continue for the rest of the fiscal year until shouty gets that $500m in cost cutting he promised. Then when the cutting backfires, he’ll cut even more because he needs his expenses even lower to make up for the huge lack of revenue, so the layoffs will continue until DXC has finally finished circling the drain and is sold off for scraps. Ship is past the event horizon, nothing can stop what is going to happen. Get out.

Will there be more layoffs?

Yes. They have to lay off thousands to hit 500million.

The layoffs will probably continue for a while. It's hard work laying off multiple thousands of people (although not as hard as it is when you are one of those people).

In fact, I think that the layoffs will continue for a long time, until DXC dwindles to nothing, goes bankrupt, or is bought by a competitor organization.

You should expect a few more years of layoffs if you're unlucky enough to still work for DXC.

HR should publish it so we know who we have to cover for or who the new contact is for support ?

But the question on who and where isn't directed at HR, it's directed at the person who postede on this site, If they know something then say something!
