Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

DC move disaster

As a tech with a large FI we have been testing a new system that will be used soon. Failure after failure leads me to think this DC move will be disastrous for Fiserv and our FI.
They simply are pushing it to fast and with a lower grade support staff that is no where what it used to be. We have expressed this to Fiserv several times. No response. They cannot handle the system they have now let alone a half baked move.
I fear it will negatively impact our customers and us financially and we all know what happens then.

'Moving anything out of Brookfield will NOT be easy or anytime soon. Won't happen in this decade!'

This is exactly right. The Checkfree knuckleheads that were in charge of doing it failed at every turn to even get it attempted. All they did was make some d-mb spreadsheets. As a previous poster commented the only way it will ever happen is a move to Azure or AWS.

Best advice... run when you can. The Xroads team was hit hard. Hardly any knowledge left there and in the cores. Remember that your reps are required to keep a calm face. Behind the scenes it's nonstop mines we're walking on.

Run, don't walk.

@3wbz+1kqF8UTy to a Credit Union it probably did look like a data center. To a Fortune 200 company it looks like a closet. I'll give it a large neat closet but not a data center. Glad to hear Xroads is still going. It is a neat product, although I would say they charge quite a bit for what they do.

3zxh+1kqF8UTy seems ignorant of facts.
XRoads is File Exchange. My FI gets their ACHs there.
That's the DC I was referring to when I opened this thread.
I think the folks are off site. I toured the floor a few years ago. No a "closet" but a very nice data center.
Almost all the experianced folks are gone.

I thought Madison already closed. Is xroads even still a product? Pretty hard to even call that site a data center. More like some servers in a closet. Another example of a product that makes money but never gets any investment to modernize it.

I know you are worried right now, but I want to assure you that you do not need to worry. Even if things go very wrong, Frank will still get his full bonus.

Just wait for the migration to Azure, as they've signed a multi-million deal with Microsoft. something like 30-40% of all systems need to move.

Just curious how the OP defines "large", large for Fiserv is BofA or Wells. Your billion dollar credit union might be large but not to Fiserv. Your Account Executive probably tells a different story.

To the poster about moving systems to downtown MIL, never going to happen other than some corporate servers. Everything else will move out of Brookfield to a go forward site. The old school Brookfield guys never wanted to believe that DC would close. It isn't even a great DC compared to say Johns Creek.

To the poster about new SVP of DR and Active/Active. I think that is a fantasy for Fiserv. Too much legacy code on too many legacy products. Unless the consolidate down it will NEVER happen. Except maybe a few products. But your legacy Bank/CU core being active/active. I can't wait to see that day in 30 years!

I'm sure it will go as well as the FOS move to Stafford. 🙄 I feel terrible for clients who are stuck in contracts and, even if they weren't, changing providers is a large undertaking, in this space. FB knows this. The board who just extended the te---r and chaos knows this. The end game here is something other than a viable whole Fiserv, as it used to be.

Retired but career with IT both in Fiserv, IBM and Aon and have seen working disasters in progress. Management generally does not know how dependent everything is on proper IT systems running. (Yes Frank, it would be epic if Sapience was affected too). IBM was either very very good or so bad it was a nightmare. At Aon a program called BRIDGE was implemented for Risk Services but incompatible with every desktop system SO all those had to be emergency chucked out. Nightmare. I have enormous empathy with this subject here which is another good reason to avoid a career with Frankserv. So yes bring the popcorn.

They have had numerous 'projects' to move the processing out of the Brookfield center since 2012(way before FB came along & ruined Fiserv) or so but they always end these projects prior to any actual attempt to do so. Were these halted due to the cost? Maybe. Can they process the products that run in Bkfld at the Disaster Recovery Site in Lewisville while they set up the equipment in the new facility in downtown Milwaukee?? No way! Will they be able to move the equipment to the new downtown location by 3rd quarter of 2023? No effing way. Will they have anyone knowledgeable left in the Brookfield center capable of running this project? Can't wait to watch them try!! Bring your popcorn folks!

Depending on what core you are on, assuming this is a core move, it could be risky. Some cores are down to skeleton crews for these projects, including have zero people filling some of the key integration roles.
