Issues with Post-65 Retiree HRA Plan Contribution after Chevron Subsidized COBRA ended?

As part of last year's severance, I enrolled in the Chevron subsided COBRA. Now that the subsidy ended, I enrolled in retiree post-65 health plan with ViaBenefit as outlined on Chevron HR Services BenefitConnect site. And am having issues with HRA Plan contribution. Curious if anyone has similar experience?

@6xou, So you have Obummercare, and apparently your investments are doing worse than the overall market during a bull run. Your point?
Yawn....... next?

When I left, I really left. Chevron HR was the worst. I have medical at significantly lower cost than before from a non-Chevron entity. The great thing is I never have to talk to anyone at Chevron again. And yes, opted for the lump sum. That amount has increased by 55%.

@4qsp - I turned 65 soon after I retired. Not at all an unusual situation. These days, it is good fortune to make it to your 60's and still be gamefully employed in O&G (as opposed to just marking time). You have to start planning for Medicare months before you actually turn 65.

I got signed up today over the phone. Took ten minutes. Same plan and provider as we had at Chevron and COBRA. Too easy. Not expensive.

@4qsp - I suppose they were over 65 when they retired. Or their spouse is over 65.

How can you already be on Post 65 medical if you just retired last year?

Retired last year. While there were some retirement 'bumps in the road' (all since fixed), the HRA wasn't one of them. Enroll in Medicare Parts A and B on time, pick some Medicare Supplement or Advantage plan (I strongly recommend a Supplement, Advantage plans have many, many hidden costs) through ViaBenefits, and the HRA should appear and be reimbursed to you without issue. The only things I could see going wrong is not signing up for Medicare on time (i.e., in the 3-month window before your turn 65), and not utilizing ViaBenefits.

I’m still on subsidized cobra and will do the pre-65 retiree medical in January. Are you talking about making the hsa contribution for this year? Is your issue that you now have Medicare primary and post 65 supplemental? Because I don’t think you can contribute to hsa when on Medicare (which happens when you are 65 and not working)

Another poster on here was correct. Reach out to your local Chevron Retirement Group. They have several people that will have gone through the same issues you are finding and will have some answers for you.

No. I got United with the AARP discount and it's pretty cheap, The ~$90 or so that they pay covers most of the premium. You can also use HSA to cover it. also have prescription coverage. maybe the viaBenefit is the problem.
