Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Salary Location Question

Currently working in Everett, if I accept a position in Oklahoma City, does Boeing do salary location adjustment.

I work at the Boeing OKC site now. I worked in Seattle for many years and had to accept a job at the OKC site and move at my own expense or take a involuntary lay off. Now i regret I did not take the lay off and remained in Seattle. I have met several people from Seattle here at the OKC site and most have admitted they were facing the same situation as I was up there and reluctantly accepted the OKC job. Several of the Seattle people have said they did not sale their houses in Seattle and are looking for a job opening at Boeing up there or applying to jobs at other local companies up there to move back home. I don't think the OKC site has really grown that much business wise. What Boeing Leaders did was transfer existing work to the OKC site from Boeing sites in Seattle and southern California. I know of people who came here from St Louis including several managers. I tend to personally avoid these people as much as I can. I have witnessed first hand the "McDonnell Douglas St Louis Culture" these people brought with them. I am not surprised at all that the former McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company was going out of business back in the late 1990's before Boeing was stupid enough to save them by agreeing to the merger which most people have realized was a major mistake and the start of the downfall of the Boeing Company.

@8cau+18D6hOMH, thats correct. Its how you go from having 2200 employees to 3400 employees.

@8esz+18D6hOMH thats fine except its completely wrong.

There are almost no McD people in OKC.
Most are former Wichita employees (former union site)
The turnover rate is THE lowest within Boeing (as an entire site)
OKC is the ONLY site that has been hiring every year for the past 5 years, including now when every other site is laying off
OKC has GROWN by over 1/3 in the past 5 years (more if you go back to 2012.

Keep dreaming.

You would be a fool to accept the OK job. The OK Boeing site is ran exclusively by McDonnell Douglas managers who mostly came there from St Louis. The Boeing OK site also has low raise percentages year after year which contributes to the high turnover rate. People accept job there, show up and see the culture being McD and soon realize they made a major mistake and start looking for a new job. The McD managers there would not hesitate in screwing you over knowing full well you are no longer represented by a Union.

So what? If they cut your salary in half you will still have more spending money than you do in Everett.

The same apartment in the PNW that goes for $4k/month goes for $1200 in OKC.

Oh, and no union dues.

Dont listen to these clowns. Unless you are way off the charts for your level/grade/retention etc. you will likely transfer over with the same pay. Talking from experience.

It absolutely will be adjusted. I can only assume you are union in everett. You wont have that elsewhere and would not matter anyhow, they pay what its worth for the area.

It all depends on how you negotiate. Going from commercial to defense you can even apply for a higher level and that is acceptable. Not withing commercial
