Out of all the people I know, not a single H1B worker was RIFF'd, but instead the majority are very long time (>20 years) employees many of which are key, critical knowledge resources. These layoff moves underscore the dire dearth of Oracle's management structure and lack of any progressive direction.
The growing majority at Oracle are peons from 3rd world countries who blatantly lie their way through the hiring process, lauded for their skillset and then set out to be absolutely useless in achieving anything beneficial. The cover up of all this is no surprise as the culture they are coming from is to support and promote each other regardless of ability or lack thereof. Personally I have seen this occur time and time again whether in consulting, product development or support organizations.
At this point, Oracle is teetering on complete collapse under an ever increasing weight of internal bureaucracy and inability to see the big picture. Oracle is now very much like Titanic and all the errors which lead to its demise.
Today, July 15th is technically my last day employed at Oracle after over 20 years and I am quite relieved to be done. Reviewing the state of this company and the bulk of who is left to run it... I do not envy anyone remaining there. I was fortunate to hold out this long and get some form of severance instead of just quitting in disgust.
