Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Let's take a vote!

How many people want to see the CEO and COO gone. I'm an ex UP employee just like most of you. I just want to see how many positive votes this gets. No comments necessary.

For most of them it is too expensive to go to trucks and service isn’t any better with the other class 1’s since they have either implemented PSR or parts of it.

@OP This vote was already taken on Glassdoor; 92% of employees out of a sample of 1,663 want the CEO gone.

He’s still there.

Until the majority of shareholders, or those with the majority of shares want the CEO/COO gone, both will continue in their current positions. That’s the reality of the corporate system.

The ceo job is to raise the profits and the stock price which he has done very well.

UUB, my post was talking about the CURRENT state of things in the course country, not 10 or 25 years ago. I realize the job cuts are mostly under this CEO. I also realize PSR has taken over the rail industry in the last few years and this is driven by corporate greed, not just UP. I did not advocate for any political party, I just stated verifiable facts. And I don’t believe just replacing Fritz and Vena will restore the organization to the way we operated in the past. Obviously they are doing exactly what the board of directors wants or they would already be gone. There is a huge problem in any society where a very small minority has almost all the accumulated wealth and the resulting power that goes with it. Everyone that accessed this site and their families are affected by this, so yes I feel it’s fair to talk about. I was not trying to offend anyone, just offering my opinion along with some information that might not be realized by some. Thanks.

@nuo I think the OP was seeing how many votes could be achieved in favor of having the CEO and COO removed.

Yes because the resulting decline in company image makes for a real attractive investment opportunity. Before you post something that has influential views towards the upcoming elections, please remember what site this is. This company has been going downhill steadily since he became CEO. The layoffs have been steady since he became CEO. The layoffs accelerated when the COO came on. So please tell me how that would only fix a symptom again? It all started with him! I don't remember the previous two CEO's making large cuts like this, even during the 08-09 bust. Yes getting rid of them won't be an instant fix. It's the first step in letting a wound heal though.

The overwhelming majority on this site would like to see the CEO and COO gone. Fritz and Vena leaving will not solve the issues going on in this company. Letting them go is only treating a symptom of the problem. They are doing exactly as directed by the board of directors, who in turn are influenced by the wishes of the majority stockholders. Replacing Fritz and Vena will only result in someone being placed in the jobs that will do exactly the same. We live in an age of corporate greed and this in not limited to the railroad industry, but is pervasive in all of society. We need a fundamental change in how wealth and corporate profits are distributed in this country. The top 1 percent has more wealth than the bottom 80 percent in this nation and the gap continues to grow. The system is rigged for the wealthiest individuals to control virtually everything in our society. Their has never been a time in our nation’s history where the wealth gap has been so pronounced. Regardless of your political leanings, everyone should think long and hard on these facts when you vote.
