Everybody on here is so miserable and entitled. We all make way more than we deserve and yet this site is just a nonstop flow of whining and moaning. Get a grip and be thankful we get paid absurd sums to do very little actual work. It’s unhealthy to be angry all the time, and if you’re so smart and deserve so much better then leave. New/prospective employees who may be reading this: it’s not as bad as this forum makes it seem. No shortage of corporate BS, but pretty good all things considered.

Waaah, I didn’t get a farewell lunch or retirement party when I EOI’ed last year. Hey doofus, it’s not like there was a d@nm global pandemic going on or anything.

I agree with that for the most part. Most of you seem to still have jobs, yet you continue to whine like pathetic children on this site where people come to find out lay-off related information, which isn't even happening now so give it a rest, have a little self-respect and be thankful that you are employed at all.
@OP, that is a bit harsh but not very far from the truth. And top that off with the fact that the majority of the young entitled posters here on a so-called layoffs board still have their cushy jobs and primarily want to share the misery and see if others, (maybe laid off people?) could be as miserable or maybe more. Shoot, I have come across far more enthusiastic and ambitious employees among those who EOI'd or were let go than the ones posting here. If you are that disgruntled move on to something different while the getting's good. Plenty of job openings across the country in many industries. I am not a green energy promoter but If I was young and ambitious I would head to that simply for the money, like I did with O&G back when. Let the id--ts realize that Hydrocarbons and it's derivatives are required for almost each and every element in all aspects of every industry today on their own.
This is correct. And really unfortunate how those that EOI’d were treated. But please know that many of us did notice and do appreciate the fact that some folks took the eoi and left early in order to open a spot for someone who wasnt ready to leave. At the end of the day though, the reality is that this is the nature of corporate business. The only thing owed to employee/employer is that which was agreed on upon entering/severing employment.
As much as they play the “we’re a chevron family!” card, the truth is that corporations dont care enough to go beyond the agreement.

While i agree with the spirit of your reply, Chevron is objectively worse now than it used to be. Its still good enough and even better than most (in the energy sector) in regards to compensation and work life balance. Its pretty apparent however that the company is on shaky ground and has been managed poorly over the last 8-10 years when compared to the past. Every day we drift farther and farther from focusing on the things that create and maintaining energy profits.
I still absolutely want to see this company succeed and i agree that if all one does is hate it, they should leave for something that makes them happier. I also agree that we should try to make it better. The problem is that many of those that want to make it better are silent for fear of being punished (ironic in an age of “inclusiveness”). I do my best to speak my actual opinions to my local leadership but it feels fruitless as it seems im the only one speaking these issues to them outside of an anonymous forum.
It’s ridiculous to say CVX employees are overpaid. It’s an industry standard to be paid this amount. So there isn’t any difference! And many of us worked 60-80 hours per week, without any appreciation. Yes, that’s stupid but we did it because we felt differently about the company. Until we chose to EOI, so that we could recoup the extremely high pension, and after that we were treated like sc-m! We left so that many could retain their jobs! And no thanks from anyone. No retirement parties, events or even good byes! No leadership thank you! Nothing!
@mzh Well then you are unique. And if you think that you are working for a "shell of a once great company" and are dissatisfied with anything, including your pay, then feel free to move along. If you are that valuable, that will be no problem. Meanwhile, be part of the solution. Good luck.
Im a millennial who earns every dime he makes at this shell of a once great company. Dont lump me in with OP. Imagine complaining that a multinational company pays “too much.” Tell that to the lab techs and service employees (really any non-exempt employee who’s not unionized) who have been under payed and under appreciated for decades.
Im sure you wont hear OP tell you corporate management is over payed though, his nose is too deep in the crack to tell them.
If you make more than you deserve then tell them you want a pay cut because you make too much.
OP is the stereotypical entitled millennial current employee who makes more than he deserves, gets paid an absurd sum to do relatively nothing compared to employees of the past. Your point is right on target, OP.

You’re absolutely right, most people at CVX are way over compensated for what they bring to the table. I don’t know what I count more - my money or the numbers of years I still have to tolerate this career. I’m definitely golden handcuffed.
