what is your game plan?
let them fire you for not showing up onsite or resign prior to the d-date?

@igh+1fEhiy6s if you and your homies were so skilled, you would no longer be at WF.
Re: badge data - that infrastructure exists already for providing badging data and was in use prior to pandemic to at least the OC+2 level - primarily to determine seating capacity (that was the beginning of unassigned seating).
Re: retirement ... the company doesn't "retire" you, you have to choose to retire. If you're termed for cause, that's not a retirement.
Doubtful that they will use badge data solely for warning and/or termination... but if you're a marginal performer that can be used to accelerate the case for your dismissal...
They can retire anytime, I did. Getting fired and retiring are two completely different things having nothing to do with one another.
Anyone knows why we is hiring so grammatically illiterate here?
Left. I am the only one on my team at my office location in a hub. Manager gave me some reasons about going into that location and working with people in the organization, who I never talk to or work with currently. When I heard that, I knew I was the one designated to "take one for the team" & trek into the office in a hub, while the rest of the team (who don't know how to collaborate effectively, let alone virtually) get exemptions to sit at home or go in closer to where they live in smaller, nicer, quieter offices. I'll take my high quality of work elsewhere, or start my own business. What management also doesn't realize is that long time non hub people try to strike out hub people as they feel that they can easily be replaced by good, competent hub people. Hub people also have more career options in their local area: more competition for good workers leads to good workers going to better companies.
What about people who are "Retirement Eligible" who do not RTO?
Several people that I know are Retirement Eligible, but not yet ready to leave. And all of them say they don't want to go back to the office.
Anybody know if they would get "fired", or if they would get "retired"........?
That’s the point. With mismanagement rampant at essentially all levels of the company, it’s highly questionable if they can effectively enforce this strategy.
I’m going to play it safe myself and show up like a good worker bee, but I respect those who are taking a calculated risk!
@2odo+1fEhiy6s
If they can't figure out how to pull that data and mesh it into one report, they should not be managing.
Yes I get that there are tools but is there actual infrastructure in place to summarize all data and deliver it to my manager? I would guess not
@2nju+1fEhiy6s
They don’t have to tell you what methods they use. And you should know that even signing on to your computer gives your location. Combined with the many other tools on your computer already tracking your location is one of the most basic things those tools can do.
They have all the data they need from badge swipes to track who is coming into the office. That said, they still actually need to analyze the data and take action.
I just read the whole RTO site and still can’t figure how they will track people that are in the office vs remote. Also nothing about repercussions so yeah…
I will not "return" to a distant office that I've never worked in, just to be around nobody that's even in the same time zone that I work with.
I was hired as a telecommuter, at a reduced salary because "telecommuting is a benefit worth $X thousand dollars a year!". I signed the paper, as did they.
My plan is to ignore the RTO. As screwed up as this company has become, they wont notice for a while. If ever.
And when they do start looking for non-RTO'd people, even if they do find them it's going to take forever for them to do anything.
Not worried.
My plan is to RTO for two weeks. I'm a newer hire so I need my I-9 checked in person so I will be onsite 3/14 for that. After two weeks I will just stop and may go back in for a day every couple of weeks to try and stay off of the "naughty" list. I'm financially independent so I really don't care if I'm fired, but I don't mind the work and like having the cash flow for investing. It will at least be interesting to see how this goes down.
anyone knows why they're beefing up security ? expecting violence?

I resigned.
Advise everyone to refuse to RTO. There are strength in numbers. And despite empty threats or any of the nonsense spewed by HR or pro-RTO trolls here the fact is that management has no plan should large numbers of employees simply refuse to show up. Like most things in corporate America the squeaky mouse gets the cheese. Don’t be a lemming. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF.
what are the consequences of being fired for not going to the office ? not eligible for rehire? any future issues with employment ? bad reference?
they won't do anything for a couple months to see how things look
I flipped it...I fired them. So I'll not be returning.
I resigned on Monday. Two week notice. Won’t be back in the office. Found a better paying job that is remote. Perfect timing!
@its+1fEhiy6s - Speak for yourself lemming. I’m not setting foot in a damn office and told my Manager exactly that. They can fire me if they want.
70% of the population is immunocompromised, so good call.
WFH until they decide to have a conversation. None of my teammates or clients work at my assigned location, so the only way I'd be missed is by badge swipes/laptop IP address. My immediate manager understands my situation...both lack of local contacts and health concerns for bringing something home to immune-compromised family members.
@OP+1fEhiy6s
I'm just not going in. When I am told I have to I may go in and show them how much lower productivity is in the office. If that becomes an issue I'll wait until the right moment and then jump ship. I'm not some entry level worker either. Neither are my coworkers who are going to do the same. If we go then sh*t really starts to pile up metaphorically speaking.
They have none. They will be returning. 🙄
