I thought moving to another department would be a lot easier than it turned out to be. I am quite disappointed and would now prefer to leave Schwab.
Is there anyone here to share their own experience with moving to another department?

I moved out of STS into the business side. As soon as I applied for a position, my SVP treated me like I was already gone. She reassigned my work while I was interviewing. I didn't have the job. She told me that my departure was imminent and she wouldn't assign me anything even though I repeatedly said that I did not have the job. I was lucky to actually get the job. My STS leader took my leaving personally.
Depends on where you are, if you’re a broker or CSR on the phones, it’s damn hard to get off those phones and go to another department unless your manager really likes you
I’m transferred in STS, specifically the IO&C program management team. Our leader is horrible. Total slave driver. Not worried about attribution as there are so many of us and it’s been a revolving door. Tanya, you are d u m b

I'm in STS, and have moved three times. The last was applying for a promotional position. However, when I moved from the original org to a new org, it was mainly because I had a strong interest in the technology. It was a great experience as far as expanding my career options, learning new skills, and etc. However, the management style of my new org was very different, and required getting used to. However, I don't regret making that move. My only advice is ask around, specifically those that are working in the new department/org, to get their honest feedback on what its like to work there. Take into consideration things like work life balance, expectations, and couple that potential career growth opportunities. Hope that helps and good luck.
