Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Promoted but dissatisfied?

It's truly shameful that any company would offer its employees a promotion with just a change in title and without a corresponding increase in remuneration to go with the promotion. It begs the question how many senior managers would accept the same deal if it was offered to them?

I absolutely agree, @6vgn+1iagfybH Shame on them!

Take that promotion and leave after 3 or 4 months.

It was on some ELT persons goals to "grow" talent. So a lot of people got promoted with no or little compensation increase for it to look good on paper. Some people were just given promotions without any conversation or agreement to the effect or agreement only find out after the fact that there was little or no compensation increase.

They also promoted me to manager with no salary increase and were not willing to negotiate at all

The only reason for taking a promotion with only an increase in title is to leverage the new title on your CV for your next job. TR is great at loading more work on staff with no title or salary increase. So if the only benefit is to get the title change, you might as well push for that. It may make a difference for your next job. It makes it look like you've actually had an opportunity to "grow" at TR professionally.
