Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Hypothesis on why layoffs are taking longer than expected

Possibly because the target layoff number is in the 15k+ range, and this requires time to identify those who will be affected. It will not be a surprise that it could get into the 20k+ and the biggest layoff ever.

Totally silliness... legal reviews on who can be fired looking for variables that MAY show bias in firing but are simple spurious correlation... This is why the co. Is spiralling down the sh----r.

@1dxi+1jKepGVx that is not true. It's about critical skills, project ROIs, performance, PLUS legal liability. Critical skills, projects ROI's, and performance are why BUs were empowered to find ways to meet the budget cuts with minimal impact on their business. Folks that are "critical" and volunteering are obviously getting rejected, as are age groups disproportionately being selected for cpm

In my BU, legal did not approved the initial CPM list so they are redoing the list as we speak, and this is why is now taking longer than expected. Non-US sites will be the first ones and the US.

At the end is not even about critical skills, projects ROI's, or even performance but rather which are the easiest targets with mimical liability chances for discrimination lawsuits.

This is how Intel the take care of their "family".

Word on the inside is Intel Management got “woke”. Promos used to come from the inside and after demonstrating you could do the job. It’s biting Intel in the bu-t, now. This really needs to change.

@OP+1jKepGVx You don’t know what you’re talking about…period. Go back to your cube or fab and underperform. Employees who do their best don’t worry about these kind of things. Amateur!

It's just such a terrible mess... It's not like $INTC can layoff the 10,000 and everything will be o.k. Profits don't go up over night. You need competitive products for that. No, I'm afraid this is going to be a disaster and there will be at least one, if not two more rounds of 10,000 person cuts. It's just simple math if you look at the revenue picture for next 36 months. Stay upbeat, but don't loose sight of reality.

It's taking longer than expected because Intel management is incompetent

Forget it. There is no right way to let people go. Intel has done the quick and dirty layoff. Those weren't well received either.
