Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I want to quit but take the 401k match ; how can i make this happen?

I have about 5 months until my 401k match vests; what can I do to wait it out until that day?

I don't want to build a career here and frankly working here has been a downgrade in my career and has really set myself back multiple years

Should i give my notice the day it vests or can I give it earlier?

I was thinking about taking leave ( for 2 months or so) or something similar so I can vest and not be working as much as possible

Look on linked in for jobs you like--figure out the skills needed and work on that for the next few months every chance you get. Do the bare minimum--that's what they'll do for you.

Wait for it . . .

Go re-read some of those inspirational Hacket E-mails !!!

Maybe retype them and improve your writing skills, understand them and develop your executive leadership skills.

Su-k it up, Buttercup. Do the 5 months or leave with less than 100% match. That's the deal.

Send a note asking this question to HR and .cc your supervisor and manager. HR is their to help you and your management’s job is to guide you and help you in your career. Try it. I’m sure everything will turn out fine.

@OP. @a2+1jj7ja1de is right. Use this time on your favor. Maybe get another job lined up, or start working on the new job while you wait for the 401K match to vest.

Just quit now. They will give you a Mulligan on the vesting

Gathering proper documentation and info to take non medical leave will likely require a few months with a therapist until it results in your favor. Medical leave is more straightforward.

I would just hang tight until vesting. Take trainings and polish up your skills. Alternatively, use this time to network with other departments and see if there are more interesting opportunities for you to engage in. Sometimes focusing on other initiatives in a company can change your perspective and make things more enjoyable.
