@ke

You sound like the defensive IBM India HR goon who is trying to defend AK. Let me ask 2 questions

  1. who is the CEO of IBM and the Chairman of IBM ? AK

2 . who approves the order for the layoff of IBM resources in the US and elsewhere ? AK

AK makes the big bucks and the big bonuses; he is looking to make his bonus even bigger in 2025 - a $100 million bonus is not joke and that is not exactly small change in anyone's pockets. In short he drives the company direction, not the lower rank and file like Krabanaugh, Slob Thomas and the other Pipmunks. AK should stand up and take responsibility for the layoff actions, instead of getting a low life pawn like you to make excuses for him. We know he is thin skinned and hates criticism directed to him.

Mainframe growth has stalled, I agree.

But does anyone understand what is really happening in the distributed world?
I am talking about Kubernetes/Openshift and the likes... these are attempts to rebuild mainframe-like environments with the same qualities of services. The real problem is that it takes 100s of servers to achieve that, crazy floor space and cooling, etc... and at the end of the days, it is extremely complex to manage and to make it work with the desired effects. When the Mainframes have been there for 50+ years, are well understood and proven, and a single one runs in a closet and replaces 100s if not 1000s of x86 servers which are su-king the world energy that could be used for better things.

Krabanaugh. Probably the most directly responsible. There’s no room in he-l hot enough.

@eg

What goes around comes around - Alvind, Ginny, Palmisano and their Pipmunks deserve all the lingering pain, misery, agony and suffering they have inflicted on other humans (IBMers), particularly destroying other people's lives. It won't happen soon enough.

I expect more partnerships that leverage IBM’s mainframe monopoly. With that said, IBM has to find partners who will help it grow revenue. Mainframe growth stalled 15 years ago, and most likely will remain stalled. That means that IBM has leveraged SW and consulting to su-k up the stalled revenue. SW has delivered via purchases (yep that means that IBM has abandoned internal innovation for purchased innovations, and IBM acts as the distributor of that innovation). Consulting has pursued a different approach. Offshore everything to a lower cost delivery model. Once that is achieved, replace the delivery model with AI automation. Don’t believe me? Just watch IBM’s worldwide employee numbers They continue to drop year after year even as they have implemented offshoring to India.

I heard he is flying to Davos to close on his Chalet... He's been very envious of Ginny the Eagle. His Chalet will be twice the size of Ginny's.
