Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What is the most stressful part about working at Honeyhell?

For me, it's dealing with toxic managers who cover for their own sc--wups by throwing you under the bus. When your manager is the one making your life he-l, the job becomes pure misery. And it’s not just mine. I know plenty of others stuck in the same mess.

Adv. Mfg Engineer in Aero ISC here.

For me the worst part about working at honeywell is coming to the realization that as much as I love the products we build, and care about the assembly mechanics, and have a passion for the science behind our parts and engines, and a love to solve the real problems we face, it will never overcome how soul crushing the administrative aspect of Honeywell is.

Constantly being bugged by senior level management over and over for the same issue (office space anyone?) Incompetent direct manager who has absolutely no product knowledge nor the desire to learn, HPD goals that have no real bearing on our true day to day responsibilities, substandard pay and benefits, getting called on the weekends while an exempt employee, endless "picking up slack" for others who refuse to do their jobs, and more than anything else:

I am tired of being an SAP monkey desk jockey. I spent 4 years studying engineering at a top university and I only get to do real Engineering maybe 15% of the time if I am lucky. My site only has about half of the engineers it had before the beer virus. and multiple groups got wiped out and never rebuilt- management realized they could shovel all the work onto a skeleton crew. Here we are with a higher output than ever and less resources. I'm done with "DO MORE WITH LESS"

I'm working on my exit strategy and will be leaving Honeywell with no notice to start my own business. I can't wait to see the look on my A-hole boss' face

Aero Engineer:
Having a coffee mug and getting a 10 gallon bucket of water dumped into it.

Competent supporting resources or decent peers in lateral groups have left for significantly better pay and 1/3 the work load at other companies.

Laughably unattainable schedules vs deliverables on many dev programs. I want whatever the dr-gs pgm mgmt, etc are smoking.... Accelerate schedule by 2-3x speed with 1/3 of competent resources.

I'm too tired to list anymore...

Honeywell leads in medical and dental insurance coverage and by leads I mean the bottom. Sole possession of last place. They "have" insurance but is so very bad. It's basically catastrophic medical care.

In the words of Dave Coty, You want insurance? Get a dog.

@OP Not having a mechanism to stop no sense is the most stressful. I don’t even think VK wants to change this organization. It is a well organized simulation game with lots of FutureShamers contributing.

Constantly lying to customers, especially around “fix actions” that are immediately defunded the moment attention is diverted.

The blatant racial bias driven by cultural backgrounds of Honeywell low cost regions. Now that these regions have reached leadership positions they make no attempt to hide. And no.. I am neither a minority or a progressive just an observer.

Lots more… Unsafe buildings and working conditions especially in the legacy US locations doesn’t even make the top five.

Overpaid incompetent managers/executives who don’t understand the subject matter they “lead”.

I'll start with what I like.... The worst benefits, work life balance, below average pay, 60 hr work weeks.

Endless addiction to $$$. Daily, weekly, monthly calls to find revenue. It never ends

Why do they have so many Directors, and endless VP positions? And yes, the same leadership personnel wants things completed at all costs, but with no funding!

It is dealing with leadership that says "We need to do this thing now, at all costs!" then when asked for funding to do this thing, they go suspiciously quiet - for months!
