Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RAN / CE mobility to Ericsson

T is turning over the responsibility for construction, and engineering and RAN to Ericsson by end of 2027. This includes most market functions as well. T has determined they can have E handle this and report to Dallas etc while freeing itself of the thousands and thousands of employees ie reducing labor cost driving up their precious revenue per employee. This is the end of market based support for T. No BS it’s in progress now

"You proud to bring those ambitions home to your family? Gross."

This is my last job. I am happy to take the severance bonus and leave.

Will all RAN national employees be required to relocate to Dallas?

Most will be terminated. Any remaining will move to Dallas, yes.

“ Will all RAN national employees become Ericsonn employees?“

Highly doubtful. Ericsson also doesn’t want a whole bunch more employees. They will use a lot of contractors to plug holes.

“I know Ericsson will cut a lot RAN people and use their employees; but I think they can telecommute, no more RTO”

Well, um, duh.

They are Ericsson employees , they can do whatever they want.

You’re probably the same dimwit that grouses here about contractors not having to RTO.

Ericsson would have to do a lot of hiring within those markets to support, or do the thing where they badge the employees that wish to stay employed over to E.

It would save T money in the long run for sure…but the network would suffer. Ericsson would fill in gaps with fly by night contractors, whose work is just atrocious.

It's easier to sell off huge chunks of the business to end the pension accrual than lay people off.
