Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Concerned for my job so I asked GPT about the federal cuts

Here is the conversation

Yes how many jobs will be lost?

Hundreds of jobs at GE Vernova in Schenectady and Niskayuna are at risk due to the cancellation of 14 federally funded energy projects-but the exact number of job losses has not yet been confirmed. The impact is expected to be significant, especially in research and manufacturing roles tied to Department of Energy contracts.

What We Know So Far
• 223 DOE projects canceled nationwide, totaling $7.56 billion in cuts
• 42 projects canceled in New York, with 14 linked to GE Vernova
• GE Vernova employs hundreds of workers in the Capital Region, primarily in Schenectady (manufacturing) and Niskayuna (research) 1.
• One canceled project alone was a $1.7 million wind turbine gear program, aimed at improving turbine reliability

Estimating Job Losses
While GE Vernova hasn't released a headcount, we can model the impact:
• Typical DOE-funded energy research projects support 10-50 jols each, depending on scope.
• If we assume an average of 25 jobs per project, then:
• 14 canceled projects × 25 jobs = ~350 jobs at risk.
This estimate aligns with reports that GE
Vernova employs "hundreds" in the region, and that these projects were central to their renewable energy and advanced manufacturing initiatives.

Billions so why do we get garbage contracts, health ins, no pension? Remain competitive? With whom chat GPT didn’t mention any other competitors.

@8az We need to start thinking about election time now, our we’ll get stuck with the same fools.

We need to try to convince the people that we have around us that have integrity, morals, and a genuine care for our union to run, even though they might want to be anywhere near the job.

A competitive election with many options to choose from as well as initiative to explore these options on the floor would do wonders for us, we have a lot of smart and capable people at our disposal.

Oh for crying out loud.
The US National Debt is a 38 Trillion.
How do you expect the government to pay for all these government jobs?
Who is going to pay the taxes? What? "Tax the rich"? Even if you tall all there money it wouldn't be enough.
We are broke. Unless you can get a strong private sector industry to tax, you are going to go bankrupt.
Think Great Depression.

Remember, GPT doesn't "think". It builds sentences from sentences it reads online. The answer could be way off.

@OP more chat gpt I asked one more question based of chat gpt answer.

Now going back to job cuts at GE
Vernova chat. How many operations leaders/ white collar workers will be cut and blue collar workers to be cut?

GE Vernova has not released an official breakdown of white-collar vs. blue-collar job cuts, but based on project types and industry norms, it's likely that both operations leaders and manufacturing workers will be affected-with an estimated split of roughly 40% white-collar and 60% blue-collar jobs among the 350+ at-risk positions in Upstate NY.

So late 2025 early 2026 jobs are to be cut according to chat gpt. Right now they are scrambling to as--s budget and work flow. Once it dries up the jobs head out packing
