Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

This cannot be mentioned enough…why is every Health Insurance CEO making between 10-20 million dollars a year?! ABSURD!

If you look up the CEO’s salary for Humana, Elevance, Optum, United Health, Cigna, Centene you will see they all are bringing in these absurd amounts.

This needs to be mentioned as many times as possible on every social media, in every conversation you have with family friends, out in public , etc.

Hopefully members will heat about it and when they have their Medicare claims denied for something like getting a prosthetic replaced, and they reach out to NBC, CBS, or some other national media outlet let, they can say in television, “Very strange my medical claim got denied because my doctor said it should be covered anf I can’t imagine my health insurance provider is struggling financially because I heard the CEO made 18 million dollars last year and even more this year.”

@175 Totally agree. With these large health insurance corporations having their operations funded (backed) with/by tax payer government funded monies for Medicare and Medicaid, all of these large health insurance corporations, such as Humana, Elevance, Cigna, Centene, etc., should be ran much closer to a Not-For-Profit Business Model.

And if ran like a Not-For-Profit organization, the CEOs and all C-Suite leadership would be paid majorily less than they are today. And member’s claims would have a much higher percentage approval rates.

@pz It is not even Humana’s money to be paying executives these outrageously absurd amounts. It is the tax payers money, seeing as how Medicare, last time I checked, was funded with government monies.

And to add insult to injury, these executives have chosen to gut the American workforce with cheap outside labor AND they constantly deny catastrophic claims that otherwise would have been accepted and paid by Traditional Medicare. The government funded dollars were earmarked to help our elderly population, whether that be Traditional Medicare or Medicare Advantage.

It is NOT Humana’s money, they are playing around with. They are taking advantage of the system and most people know it.

Becuase that’s how much CEO’s make, it’s got nothing to do with health insurance

The CEOs deserve a generous reward for... checks notes creating companies that deny people's medical claims while scraping tax money from the government.

@dx Agree. I think executives and leaders all the way down to Directors never antipathy how much “rent” they would have to shill out for cloud space (and services) and now artificial intelligence. Had they known in advance just how much it would cost after to promotional discount period ended, they might have decided another path.

But probably not “because have to keep up with all the other corporations that are doing it! Cannot be left behind!”

Those words I heard so many times and shines a light as to how easily insane thinking can occur amongst competitive and greedy people!

And then offshore workers with the money you receive from the federal government and US taxpayers. How is that ok? I’m surprised CMS allows it. Some states and some union employer groups do not

It just amazes me how corporations like this can do so many illegal and corrupt wrong things like false information to shareholders on earnings call updates and insider trading deals and yet stock keeps going up and up.

And they don’t even payout on catastrophic claims to their members with government monies earmarked for them (the members).

I guess when you get this large and rich off tax payer dollars and can afford to hire expensive lawyers you can do anything you want. Pitiful!
