@t7 Unfortunately, Dell engineering or Product Management couldn't write a comprehensive "spec" to save their lives so it really doesn't matter. AI can only code to how good the input is. Dell will fail here just as it has failed before every single year.

yes, you've been away too long. Yes, ,specs or business requirements still mandate the reason for the coding. You did the coding according to the spec. Now, AI does the coding....not you. You fix the spec and AI does the code....not you. Make a fix, you fix the spec and AI does the code. If you trust AI to do the right thing, essentially, you don't need to be a software developer to do this work. See, you've been away too long if you don't understand how this is going to work.

@dz Um… as a former coder, we called them programmers, spec driven was the reason for what we did.

I guess I’ve been out of the game too long.

@dz LOL!! The latest buzzword for a new process. Dell has tried agile, lean, scrum, scrum of scrums, object oriented. Each failed not because the processes were not good, but because leadership failed every single time. Dell leadership will fail with this as well. Dell leadership simply does not understand how to implement process - at all.

Once they've laid everyone off, what excuse to cut costs are they going to use to juice the stock market?

It’s just another .com. Give it another year and we’ll be wallpapering our bathrooms with the stock. What goes up, must come down.
