I’ve read some PIP experiences where people mentioned scorecards, weekly or biweekly check‑ins, PIP goals, and coaching.... Can someone explain the PIP process in detail? What are these terms ?

Prior MLRPs count toward the 2 in 5 years. So if someone passed a PIP in 22,23,24,or 25 and this cycle got MLRP (NSi or NI if <5 yrs exp) then they are automatically PIL’d. The only people who’s prior MLRP doesn’t count are those who were NRE (basically 3 yrs from retirement eligibility) since XOM got rid of that “program” this year as well.
As to what you do on a PIP - you’ll have bi-weekly check-ins (every other week). To start the PIP your supervisor will clearly state goals and behaviors you have to improve. HR has to review them. The goal is to get your relative performance to Very Good or better in the subsequent cycle. Then the supervisor has to document a “log” of progress after each biweekly meeting - HR also reviews those transcripts. The PIPee also gets a chance to comment/approve the documentation of the work log. You’ll get a midterm review that says whether or not you’re on track to pass.
It depends on your supervisor but they have to document that they are meeting with you to build a paper trail to fire you.
@OP If they certainly want you gone there is so much process and Goles , meetings documentation involved and the whole time your manager forces you to switch to PIL because for once they have to do work as a manager
@at Isn’t the limit two PIPs within five years? Since the updated policy came out in 2026, prior PIPs shouldn’t be included in that count, I guess
I don’t think they will be doing pips to pils any more. 2 NIs and your gone correct . All this company has is time. Time to do whatever they want.
