Dell didn't give us 2 months of cobra as promised.
Fun to find out when you go to fill a prescription and learn your insurance was canceled 2/10/23
Heads up!

They did a lousy job of communicating how COBRA would work. You had to enroll, even for the 2 months Dell is covering. There should be an enrollment link in the correspondence from Dell.
Cobra is expensive, but in my case it was cheaper than other options in the marketplace and with significantly lower deductions. Do the math and decide for yourself.
Insurance ended 2.10 but they did not enroll Riffed employees....call in on 2.14 and learn that Cobra will be back date to 2.11 but would be visible to healthcare until end of month... another way that Dell the discount shop cheats ex employees and customers ...
Commodities only make the oligarch rich. Not share holders or employees.
Power MSD who has gone from Nothing to Multi Billionaire as he pollutes the world with toxic wastes and cheap wages...
respect for shareholders, planet and people? Dell? Not buying it...
This just confirms this board is filled with the laid off past whining and bickering.
And a collection of inept ones at that. you know, as with everything in life, the due diligence is on you.
You have to be a real POS to be the benefits person at Dell that set this up. Hope they got some good gifts from the insurance company making instant bank from the constant layoffs at Dell.
in the U.S. the bi-weekly deduction was made in the full bi-weekly amount but coverage ended after the first week. So we were shorted by a week's worth of coverage.
sounds like a class action suit if this is true about paying until the end of the month but not getting the coverage.
Every penny must count.... my COBRA started the day after my last day! I agree, with other posts, you would think the company would cover through the end of the month... they did take the deduction from my check. Shame on you Dell!
I have done Cobra with a previous employer, and what you are saying is untrue. If you pay your Cobra fees, your coverage continues. It is horribly expensive, but it continues coverage. This is federal law, end of story.
Cobra is typically offered after your health coverage ends and is significantly more expensive. A cost comparison between the Dell cobra coverage and coverage you can get in the open market on healthcare.gov is about the same dependent on your coverage options.
Nope check the language on what you’re opting into.
Dell gave us 60 days Cobra but we need to opt in. I just opted in and have my coverage retroactive to 2/12
Awful company. Dell can easily pay for at least the remainder of the month or the remainder of the month plus a month for health coverage. Most all medium to small businesses I’ve worked for do this as well as any large businesses. With the regular amount of people Dell lays off each year, this is a great little money making scheme the insurance broker setup with the person at Dell in charge of benefits. So much corruption at Dell and nobody watching.
Thanks for the heads up. I missed that I needed to sign up for Cobra. I thought it was an automatic transfer for 60 days.
Yes
Did you follow the instructions in the supplied separation documents and opt-in to COBRA?
