I have been able to WFH since 2020. I come in the office once per week so that my boss would notice that I am working on something. The rest of the weeK I am busy managing my home renovation business. Working from home is the best option.

@OP. Thanks for the link of an interesting article (with no paywall). I did that years ago, and I didn't like it. I was WFH in one company that was threatening layoffs in the short term future, so I took another full time job with another company. I went to the office for my J2, and worked at night for my J1. I was actually working 80 hours a week, and the dual salaries were great, but I was a little bit stressed out. At the end, I lost both jobs, one at a time, but found a better one at the end.

I've been tempted to do the same at Ford since my technical workload is not that much. Most of my time here is wasted in meetings and chasing people down. I even looked at other jobs. However, most companies want me to work in the same hours than Ford.

Since I think that working 2-3 jobs in the same 40 hours is stealing, I've not accepted having a second job. Yes, I understand these are talented people that can do the work very fast, but still, when they are stressed out, thinking about multiple issues in different companies, they are not giving their best and most important of all, they are not taking the time to review the code properly.

Besides, this dual income situation works fine when the employee is young, with no family. At this point of my life, I prefer spending time with my family than working. I also paid my house years ago, and I have plenty of cash around, so I don't have the need to slave away.

The only point that made me think about having two jobs, besides the constant threat of layoffs at Ford, was to upscale my skills. Ford is known to destroy the technical skills, and I am not the exception. However, J2 has to be a junior position, so I'd not get to improve myself anyways. I also considered making Ford the J2, but then the workloads of J1 would be substantial. Let's put it this way, I am looking for another job with similar or better pay than Ford, and when I get it, I'd not risk it by keeping Ford as J2.
