Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Toxic place to be.

IMO Dell is a rwally horrible place to be at tje momemt and working here is a real grind which gets worse as the weeks go by.
My question is is it just me that doesnt fit or is everyone feeling the same?
Sometimes I get the feeling im starting to go mad.
All we hear from senior management is its a big family and staff first but once we complain its implied that you are the problem and not Dell.
Its constant gaslighting from the top.
For me its time to move on but I would like to know its not just me.

Woke BS is a cancer throughout corporate America. I think the Chinese have we-ponized white guilt and savior complexes to get western businesses to weaken themselves. Too many companies are focused on having all the demographic boxes ticked and not enough on effectiveness and productivity. The demographic goals aren’t even possible to achieve. There simply aren’t enough women or people of color that want to work in IT. The only way companies can “make progress” towards ESG goals is to hire and promote people that are completely unqualified.

BTW—Businesses NEVER tried to match their workforce exactly to the ethnic breakdown of the general population before. It’s just not possible.

I spent my career here and left on my own. I never want to work for a corporation again and definitely have PTSD. You get a new manager every couple of years and you roll the dice on how he treats you. This company promoted ideas like pay for performance and you run your job like your own business. Fact is anything can and will be taken from you and given to favorites. No one supports you and upper management is a joke. Don’t get me started on the woke BS the directors push

The toxicity comes from very weak leadership.

The "executives" are too scared to provide a realistic view of the economic landscape, they just want to tell their "leaders" what they want to hear while manipulating yoy results, collect their pay and, throwing others under the bus while holding on for dear life until the next cycle comes around..

All too many senior leaders in the exact same role for decades, who do not understand their business, have poor people skills with high attrition rates, have zero note worthy acheivements and cannot hit a target that has been handed to them, but some how remain employeed while consistant acheivers are pushed out of the business..

The organization is great, its the legacy Dell leaders that are weak, scared, and will do anything to stay in role and appear relevant. Explains the consistant decline in market share when self promotion is more important than results.

With every redundancy round the toxicity increases as there will be a stage where the hyenas begin turning on eachother as they do not have the skills to be competative in other organizations.

If you have been imacted by wfr count yourself lucky, you've been paid out to exit a sinking ship. There is a big difference in playing to win, and playing to not lose.... Dell is so desperate to not lose, they wouldn't know what winning looks like..

Back yourself, find another great organisation, keep it moving 💪💪💪

The tell Dell results are abysmal. The reality is that they ignore them when they’re bad and love themselves when it’s good. It’s been pi-s poor for the past 2 years at least and no sign of getting better.

DELL is absolutely one of the most solid Tech companies in the US. It is awesome company and all surveys reflect that. I work for DELL, my niece work for DELL and my aunt work for DELL. We are ALL family here! DELL was the past, is the present and will be the future!!

hearing from a few reliable sources at higher levels.....after holiday drinks....we're looking at a 7% RIF in 2024. Not sure what groups or when but the marching orders seem to be 7%. That's all I got.

Career growth at Dell is a farce. Climbing the corporate ladder really means kissing a$$ up the management chain, requiring you to bend the knee and become a yes man/woman. It's no wonder there's lack of direction at the company. Leadership are more concerned with their own well-being over that of the company.

It's definitly not you, I would argue the close to 85-90% of Dell employees feel the same way. The company is crashing and burning with toxic leadership from the top. The company culture has turned rotten and is filled with cynical leaders who lack intelligence, ambition, and standards. It's quite awful to watch a company plunge to lower and lower ethics on a daily basis.

Yes. Total failure of a leadership team.
Never seen a company go out of its way to skim from its employees to save costs.

I agree with the post below. Management is directionless. Probably due to the fact that many got in their positions based on cronyism and connections instead of actual talent and credentials. I am amazed at the number of Sr Dir/VPs who have no business holding those positions

It’s not just you. It’s almost everyone. The “less with less” strategy is bullsh!t and was openly admitted by Jeff Clark as a failure. Right now, Dell is a directionless company, with its pathetic leadership scurrying around like rats trying to do nothing but build political relationships as they don’t know where this company is going. Dell is pathetic. Its leaders are pathetic and personally my short tenure here will be over. Coming to this company was a big mistake.

Not just you at all. This company is a social experiment much like the Stanford Prison Experiment, gaslighting, Stockholm syndrome. I practically have PTSD after 5+ years at this dump
