Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Any f-o-o-l actually passionate about our products?

I’m in EMEA Sales. Been here for a long time. I’ve never been able to say I’m excited nor passionate about a single thing we sell. The part of the job I enjoy is working with my non re--rded teammates and my customers. I often wonder, is anyone here actually excited about the things we sell??

Without a pretty extensive rethink / rewrite, this will not scale past the garage project...

Been there, done that, got the package along with half my building. Cisco is the only company not just that I've worked for but among any of my friends and colleagues experiences where programs can overrun by factors of tens, and even after completely failing still check in the code leaving far more work for many more teams to work around. Until Cisco can no longer keep squeezing customers to pay for this it's not going to change.

I'm in a project that is getting HUGE amounts of spotlight now from Chuck and many other C-levels on down. It's a F'in' dumpster fire - at best. Without a pretty extensive rethink / rewrite, this will not scale past the garage project it still is, and it's over 10 year old. It's REALLY not good. at. all.

I too enjoy making the Extra Krispy at KFC.

We are the puppets for a small group of people making millions, while we make french fries.

It is good to be enthused, but never forget who wins the big gameshow prizes (not us); and most of us could be canned without the blink of an ELT eye.

Remember the good old days? If you give John Chambers a toaster, he can sell it as a router and sells millions of them :)

Just what we need. Mediocre sales folks without passion or drive. No wonder we're crashing down. Do everyone a favor and resign. Let the younger generation come in and do the job you've never been good at.

I'm not passionate about vacuum cleaners but I've bought and used them. All the networking vendors are painful to deal with. Cisco does certain things better than their competitors so we still buy some Cisco gear.

Of course I am excited! Didn’t you know? Cisco has Generative AI all over internally. And pigs may fly. But hey! AI! AI! AI! AI! Nah, na na na Nah! AI! AI! AI! AI!…

I am so excited to be Splunk- ed all over! $28 billion times Splunked! I am such a hero!

I'm pretty excited/motivated to actually help my customer solve problems with our tech. If we can get the conversation going with the right people we often have a viable solution and a sound approach to execute.

Do I wish we had stuff that "sold itself"? Sure.

People used to be exited. Nowadays it is fake excitement about things no customers are buying.

@OP+1qB4VmmG Did you stop to think that maybe you’re part of the problem?

If you’re so jaded about the products, then perhaps you should find another company and make room for someone who is more motivated.
