Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Big Brother is here and is watching you!

IT is in the process of implementing Nexthink, which monitors your laptops usage and activity. It tracks your personal usage by application and device. It will track your Zoom calls, how much time you use email, PowerPoint, etc... Along with the already implemented goto/workplaceinsights tracking they will likely move to now querying your overall time at work and know exactly what you are doing. Europe will at least be able to ask to obfuscate their Laptop and Username, but really, that will happen only if you know about it and ask them to do this.

I would suspect this will feed another "insights" tableau, like the workplaceinsights one, that will give managers the ability to see how much time you are doing what. Merge this with the flawed ranking system and you should expect your "productive" time will be a factor in the near future for performance evaluations.

It is already rolled out to all 80k laptops globally and is collecting your data. There is no opt out. Contact EUC if you have questions/concerns.

My favorite example of no trust is the carryover vacation policy. A couple of years ago an email came out saying they Trusted us to manage it with our supervisor. That lasted for all of 1 or 2 years. Now it is micromanaged at a high DOAG. I guess they really don’t trust us!

Actually I believe the issue isn't about trying to catch our pants down with all these surveillance, but the amount of trust on us. We as employees are working hard day in day out. We don't give a f about whether they want to track our every movement on the lap top or on the campus. Is about the amount of trust. I feel disrespected. Like I am being watched every moment like a preschooler.

DISRESPECTED...you implement the flex your day but set so many rules around it and even a monitoring dash board. What's the use? Don't trust us or respect , then don't have to give us those flex your day benefits to make yourself look "good" on the surface to other potential employees (if there are still interested undergrads...that is, if there are...haha)

Those weren’t ordinary flu shots this year. The microchips are inside of us now!

When you see those odd-looking devices attached to the ceilings, not the one for wifi, small or big, those are the triangulating devices that do the tracking. Some are hidden underneath the ceiling.

The badges will track how long you're in the office. Recall that email about getting a new badge if you don't have a foil globe on it?

Yeah the technology they're implementing will tell them what building you're in and how long you were there without badging out

I stream YouTube on my work computer for 10+ hours per week. In a prior role, years ago, I’d shut my office door and watch YouTube nearly all day (30 hrs per week probably). Nobody’s ever mentioned it and I’ve continued to be ranked at the top and received excellent feedback, promotions, and opportunities.

There is discussion about connecting the coffee machines and coffee sales to users. Those having excessive "coffee chats" will be red on the dashboard and highest likelihood for PIP!

Hey people, at the refineries and plant sites, they monitor us wherever we go so we don't slack around, unlike you people in the campuses. It's unfair, let's get everyone tagged, not only us here, doing all the hard work!

They may just figure out all these work from home dead heads aren't actually working.

If they don't like me they can fire me anytime they want. I don't give a fu-k anymore. I'm here milking this dead cow that Darren ki-led. I just don't give a fu-k anymore.

I was looking at the workplace insights last night. I realise they have added a new monitoring rule for Fridays. Might as well remove the flex your day policy.

How childish can we go? We need to set up a monitoring dash board to monitor on employees' movements and monitor us like we are some animals in the zoo.

As someone who probably works too much I don’t care if they monitor me. I have nothing to hide. That being said it is a stupid idea because it won’t tell you anything about the quality of the work being done.

I don’t have a problem with them getting rid of the people who are constantly having coffee chats and other such nonsense.

Just put tracking devices on our badges and laptops so that wherever we go, everybody knows where we are

Heard from a reliable source we are going to put card access for the bathrooms, and facial recognition to determine when you leave

The thought is people are spending too much time sitting on the can

It’s coming

Don't forget about voice surveillance. Singing or rapping while working from home will endanger your career. So too will the melodious emissions from your bean burrito lunch.

Where I'm at they used info from RSI guard to fire someone who was (not) working from home already.

Who cares! Let them watch. What’s the worst they can do fire me? Half the time I’m not even working.

Goodness gracious, OP whoever you are, you're outdated, we have been doing our surveillance for many years now. We know who's productive and who's slacking. And we have been recording too.

@OP This is not new.

I have always assumed that my employer monitors my use of their computer. Just get your deliverables in on time or ahead of schedule and nobody who matters will give AF what you do.
