If you are really an employee, and want answers, go to a town hall. Ask someone else about what was said in their town hall. Read the severance policy - which is published and available on the internal web and maybe even external website. Retirement policy has been in place for years, and yet there are still stupid comments made here that are completely wrong. I'm not management, I have little love for what Ryan is doing, but things posted here are a waste of space. Whining about no Bartlesville party? Boo hoo. When all is said and done, this is going to be a lean company. Similar to what Conoco and Phillips were each before the merger. It's going to crank out cash and have performance metrics as good as its peers. But getting thru the next couple of months, and maybe a couple of years after that is going to be lean. That said, don't let the stuff on this site steer you wrong. I'd hate to see an employee make a move or a decision based on what is posted here. You are going to feel really stupid when you find out otherwise. I came here because someone told me about something they read here. At first I thought it was all funny, then disheartening that people worried about their jobs might be thinking they can learn something inside here.
Finally, I have been thru a few of these in my career. People that get consumed by the latest rumor, what x said about y, etc, etc. I guess this is the new age where we can read about it on a blog, or a website even. Those people consumed by this stuff are easy to spot at work. As they are by supervisors as well. Those people who have to make the decision on who to keep and who to severe, and you are showing up as someone who cannot take the pressure, and not concentrating on getting your work done. Keep your head down. Nothing you can do otherwise is going to improve your chance of staying employed.
