Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Interesting Article about the future of T . . .

https://www.fool.com/investing/2025/03/28/is-att-a-buy/

"Here is the problem: AT&T's core business doesn't grow very fast. Most U.S. adults have cellphones or smartphones, leaving the three companies that dominate the field (AT&T, Verizon Communications, and T-Mobile US) to fight over a relatively stagnant customer base. AT&T is guiding for low-single-digit revenue growth this year, and analysts estimate the company will grow earnings by just 4% annually over the next three to five years."

@a3+1jqefkek2 If everyone in the “mass surplus” owns stock in their 401k and decides to cash out on exit, wouldn’t that drive the price down?

Bought my T stock a year ago. I am pleased with the growth. Will sell after the mass surplus coming drives the price up. Just hoping I am relevant enough to make it through. But I see where you are su-king wind if you bought it long ago for 35 + a share.

So, if you bought stock 10 years ago you basically lost 3% in dividend payout and had no growth in the stock. An overall loser.

"Thanks to its slow business growth, it seems more likely that AT&T will trudge along, lagging the broader market."

"In summary, the low-hanging fruit in AT&T stock is likely gone, but the stock could still be a solid buy for retirees and other income-focused investors."

If you bought this after most of the stock increase then you hang on for the dividend, or you sell because there is not a lot of upside potential. This was confirmed by Legg in his town hall last week. He admitted that T needed to start developing apps to ride on our network in order to create any real growth going forward.
