Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

On my way out! FK CSCO

Denied promotion once again.
Expectations of me growing higher and higher.
Doing great work and being praised for it, but because im not su-king off higher grades about sh-t I dont give a flying fu-k about, and not inserting myself in meetings unnecessarily, DENIED.

How does one start finding a job elsewhere ? I have 5 years of experience.
My interview skills have 10 layers of cobwebs and dust.

@ap That isn’t abnormal. Over achievers are generally not liked. They make their team mates, who are also working hard and getting things done, look like they aren’t working hard enough. If you want to be an over achiever and grind your free time and life away, then go to Tesla or one of Elon’s companies. You will get more money and you will get to grind yourself to the bone. Otherwise, chill out and find a work-life balance.

My last team we had this Indian guy who worked his a-s off. Online before EST team, and online when we logged off. Leadership totally took advantage of him. Was on the team like 2 years? Asked for a promotion and to be allowed to log off so he could spend the evenings (11pm his time) with his family, got denied. They posted his backfill before he quit. Same location, and the grade he asked to be promoted to, and this guy was GOOD at his job. They literally let a GOAT leave just to promote a backfill.

@a9 damn... I'm in the same boat as you. Moved to a new team, (without revealing myself) we do low-level service work in a high risk area. Manager is newly promoted, team is competent but we have absolutely no supervision. I've been getting away with doing nothing for weeks and enjoying life outdoors, and taking 15+ extra PTO days every year without marking them in the calendar. I feel hollow on the inside, on one end I'm abusing the sh-t out of my employment and getting paid very well for it, on the other every day is a battle to find something to do to look busy

Trust me, you do not want a promotion.

My deal: promoted several times, then my boss left. I was senior person on team. Great reviews. Moved to new manager team who had their own team of senior minions. After six months, was LR'd; I did not fit into the "culture" (read deeply into that word) on the new team.

LR'd; over 50...old team was great, new team was a caste system. My time to go. That is all I will say.

why leave all that free money on the table? sharpen your skills while skating by and collect that separation agreement when your turn comes.
