Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Protect yourself

I've learned that when you go above and beyond for a company that sees you as a number, you're only hurting yourself. They won't reward you or remember the extra hours, the extra effort, and the extra stress you put yourself through. None of it changes anything. So stop doing it. Do what you're paid for. Nothing more, nothing less.

@dy The better you do the more easily replaceable in the very short term. These companies don't exist to make the real big profits, just protect their tiny profit margins.

After years in corporate (retired now) - places like Aon, IBM, Fiserv, Abbott Labs you are Never an essential employee and if told otherwise, do not ever believe it. Everyone can be replaced by something - AI or lower paid staff in Pune.

@a4 You don't need to sabotage AI efforts. The leadership is so stupid that it wouldn't matter. You will get your statistical regression towards the mean.

Go above and beyond and also see the company we a number. Be good and look for places that give you better numbers. Don't be a loser.

@OP Sound advice. If you do go above and beyond, be strategic. If it doesn't benefit your long-term interests, pass.

After years of hard work, being let go has made me realize how disposable employees can feel to their employers. The experience has left me regret and remorse. Don’t make the same mistake.
