Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

From Watching Layoffs to Feeling Like I'm Next

Last year, 85% of my team was laid off and replaced with an offshore team in India. Watching so many talented colleagues lose their jobs was incredibly difficult, and now it feels like I'm slowly being pushed out too. It's hard not to feel uncertain about my future. Has anyone else been through something like this or felt the same way?

@bx What were you thinking will happen if work visa norms were tightened beyond reasonable restrictions? That somehow the jobs would go to Americans? That's living in a fool's paradise. The only loyalty these companies have is to their shareholders. That's it. And the CEO's are loyal first to their own pay package and then to the shareholders and board. You can abuse Gunjan as much as you like, but take a hop across to the layoff boards of any of the other banks (Citi, BNY, State Street, Wells etc.) and the compaints against their lilly white CEO's mirror the one's against Gunjan - that they feather their own nests with multi million dollar paychecks while laying off Americans and offshoring jobs to India, Poland, Phillipines, Costa Rica etc.

Citi's Jane Fraser made 42 Million last year and got herself made the chairman of the board alongside her existing CEO role. There's not one chance of anyone being able to oppose her. Has she used this to empower Citi employees?He-l no...Citi has been comnstantly laying off people every month this year while offshoring to India and Costa Rica and Jane is as pale white as they come. When it comes to these CEO's, white, black or brown, not one of them gives 2 sh1ts about employees. Capiche?

The bank is doing everything they can from hiring onshore American citizen contractors. If onshore visa-ed contractors are not an option for some reason (can't get visa renewed for example), that job is immediately given to offshore contractors. Huge red flag for the future direction of the company. Blatant discrimination.

If anyone feels like their job is secure at this point you're a fool. The only secure jobs are the execs and upper management types who have bent over and taken it. You know the types, the ones who reference goonjug prophetically, the ones who are drunk on the koolaid.

If you have taken a company trip to india recently you are probably safe.

I have a coworker who has been learning hindu language (everyone in the office can hear her) and citing it in her development time along with being in the office 5+ days per week. She's gonna be hit hard when she gets laid off eventually because an actual indian will do her job for a fraction of the cost.

This company is an absolute dumpster fire. The entire leadership team is so morally bankrupt it's disgusting. If you think you're safe here you're probably not.

@a4 the job security you speak of no longer exists under Goon queen. She’s the bringer of doom and that’s what she’s serving during her contract.

I was scheduled to begin training as a backup for another team, but that opportunity was canceled. Although the other team is compensated at a significantly higher rate than I am, I viewed the cross-training as an opportunity to increase my value to the organization and strengthen my job security. Since the training is no longer moving forward, I feel that I have lost an important layer of job security and am more concerned about my long-term stability within the company.
