Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What's even the point anymore

The goal seems to be to replace all of us as cheaply as possible. Watching your job get handed off while you're expected to train the replacement is not something I want to do. I'm now wondering how long before sending so much stuff overseas comes back to bite us in the a-s.

I was let go from the firm a few weeks ago for something completely ridiculous, but I first saw the cracks in the dam appear last summer. At the most recent Town Hall event I attended a few months back, there was something that really stuck out to me. Robin was hyping up the new Pune office by emphasizing how great it is, and he even went as far as to say it's way nicer than the New York City flagship location.

Something about that just really stuck out for me – it was like getting shot with a diamond bullet right through the forehead – to see a British man gloating about the superiority of an overseas office in a third-world country where work is being outsourced from America's oldest bank. I'll never forget.

@a5 Very depressing for whom? Folks in the U.S. have witnessed the results of offshoring for many years now; countless domestic jobs lost, as well as folks having to clean up the messes and failures of the offshore teams.

So in my department recently there was a case where set of Client moved from US team to India team gone red, recently they were moved to Poland team for fixing quality, I wonder if they will move them back to India once they will be green again and procedures will be established. The real problem will start when there will be only India team left and they won’t be able to move clients that India is not able to handle to any other location where they still use brains
