Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why so many layoffs today?

Was this announced or is it just the usual Tuesday? Seems a bit excessive.

If you work for that id--t Charles Elliott who likes to hear himself talk, although nobody really listens or cares what he says, has sold us all out to a bunch of Indians that don't know what they are doing. , you probably got the axe today. He seems to think that AI is the solution to everything. I can't wait to see him ushered out the door.

@ab I doubt you lose it -- you'll likely get a lump sum payout though. But I'm sure those conditions are written into the layoff paperwork.

@ah Corporations and the Heritage Foundation have produced a bill that plans to make all of us contractors...seeming to amend a 1938 law. America is fu---d. https://www.safetyandhealthmagazine.com/articles/27097-house-committee-advances-legislation-on-independent-contractors-and-joint-employers

Not only do you not get severance if you come back as a contractor you don’t get it if they want you to come back as a contractor but you don’t agree to do so.

There did seem to be way more than usual this time. I thought with all of the positive news recently it may have slowed down. Offshoring to these third world countries has got to stop already.

@ab severance, most likely not because that’s from the bank directly for the “inconvenience”. I would just read the details of it when it’s provided. Years of Service, yes because now you’re employed through the Contracting Agency and not directly with WF. So any longevity perks: PTO, special parking space, 401k matching, etc. is back at zero.

Are layoffs affecting contractors or we don’t have any left at this point?

The only talent Charlie has is laying off people. The firm is terrible, advisors seek and bring in clients even knowing how much damage the firm has done. It's shameful. T Rowe price is also falling behind, with their earnings, so good riddance to them, too.

Does everyone feel appreciated? How does it feel to see the jobs of your colleagues going overseas?

Most are based in SF. Looks like they want to downsize the workforce there.
