"I often didn’t wear clothes at home."

If I did, it was something exotic from International Male

Make 5 days mandatory first and make people life miserable, then reduce it to 3days and then people will be happy that they have 2 days wfh.

Wow such intelligent policy can’t be done/implemented in this company .

Just so I'm clear, we're a few months into 5x and all of a sudden they declare Nov to roll this back? Our leaders barely know what our Capex situation will be in Nov by this point in the year, so why the heck would they have this "figured out."

Hope OP sharts himself at the office soon.

What are you basing that on? Why would they? This isn't about RTO, other than making the job less appealing so people will leave on their own accord, and the company will not have to pay out severance. If they could make it 7 days a week RTO, they would!

“There will never be a formal undoing or retraction of current policy . At least now while the Stank is around. You all should know better.“

Except Stankey will probably step down at some point this year. He was just elected chairman of the board.

We can wear snuggies in Alpharetta now! Almost like WFH

The number of you that appear to be taking this bait is alarming.

Nonsense.

They are way too gung ho and committed to their lies for this to happen. Only way I would see a change happening is if they want to unload real estate or if they really are losing people they don’t actually want to lose. In this job market I doubt that’s an issue but just recently it seems like more people who say when on maternity leave are deciding not to come back

Please let this be true. If we could switch back to temporarily commuting to Atlanta Tuesday through Thursday and returning home Mondays and Fridays like we were at the beginning this would be a huge morale boost.

I heard this too but is only true for groups meeting 5x8+ hours consistently and have north of 85% RTO day compliance

Proof 5x8 was a “punishment”

Update: this will only be true for some groups based on coming changes.
Apparently, if you are 3 days now and moving to 5 days, or just recently moved to 5 days in March or April that is a permanent change. Other orgs who started 5 days in January will have upcoming reconsideration.

@a7

Just take an entire sick day off.
There's no guarantee that the repair person will be there during the morning window, or they might arrive at the very end of it. Also, things can happen or be discovered during a repair job where it ends up taking more time than expected to fix.

Don't put yourself in the position of having to scramble to make it back into the office for what ends up being a 2.5 hr. work day. Just email your boss first thing in the morning saying you're not feeling well so will be taking the day off, but expect to be in the office the next day. Done.

“Therefore, I cannot be in the office 8 hours. What are you all being told to do in this situation?”

I’d take sick time and make a point to not work during it.

Give a key to a neighbor or use PTO.

Will believe it when I see it. In the meantime, I have a repairman coming to the house tomorrow “between 8-12”. Therefore, I cannot be in the office 8 hours. What are you all being told to do in this situation? I’m considering calling out sick 4 hours, since we’re not allowed to work from home. Thoughts??

AT&T can no longer afford 24-hour work weeks. That model failed.
