Cuts already being made in Des Moines

over 300 displaced from control I am hearing
I went to email someday today and bam zz. Total BS that youre working to get something done and people just disappear. The whole group and the manager were all gone today.
In the end the only cities standing as CORE will be 3
Minneapolis
Charlotte
NYC
The plan and timeline was shared by management.
DesMoines in another year or so will not be core.
What groups in Florida got hit? WARN notice showed 90
Cali also showed a bunch
Showed small group on DesMoines.
The "logic" has been completely consistent. If you're in the US and not in sales or something required by law to be domestic, you're on the block. HYs plan is to contract, outsource, automate, or sell off EVERYTHING. It only looks inconsistent because it takes time to implement it. Over the long term their diabolical scheme is clear. FHY. Every last one of them.
What a clown show—cloud team slashed, FH gutted, CTO’s bleeding (@ax, @br). Migrating 100,000 servers while firing the brains behind it? Pure genius. India’s “help” is a dumpster fire (@bc), and Des Moines—‘core site,’ my a-s—crams survivors into one crumbling building (@b4). Building new DCs while torching FH? That’s not a cloud migration; it’s a panic attack. No logic, just ‘efficiency’ BS (@bs). WFC doesn’t learn—same sc--wups, new bodies. Fear’s the boss here: speak up, you’re cut; sc--w up, you’re cut; exist, you’re cut. Chaos breeds abuse—managers pick names like it’s a dartboard (@b9). FU Shart indeed (@az).
Seeing the aftermath this afternoon - Enterprise Functions took a hit.
Can't see logic, as core and non-core hit equally. Also, others in tech more broadly let go due to remote status and not meeting in-office expectations.
I was laid off today and was part of the CTO org
Well if cloud got hit then that’s another nail in the cloud migration coffin. Another good idea totally mismanaged.
FH cuts? Like there aren’t enough challenges to DC migration they cut more people. What’s the over/under on how many months DC migration gets delayed.
@ak+1jrwtnns7
That's some funny sh-t right there. You had to chatgpt that?
Yeah, ok. so most of it is right. FH had 2 execs "persue other opportunities" so that says something.
Much of FH is already in India. Service from them continues to get worse. Stateside is shorthanded, India incompetent.
There will be over 100,000 Windows/Linux servers in the new DCs, not including containers. Cloud isn’t taking over.
It seems Tech truly was affected.
Of course, that makes it easier to justify destroying entire teams due to a "building closure". In the end the fake excuses will keep coming until we're all gone.
Co-location is the next phase. Spread out teams will be no more if possible
My old team appears to be retreating to a single-city team. No more spread across the county. Even those in the approved core cities have been eliminated. More so than by either age or salary would dictate.
Des moines will continue to be a core site. The problem is they sold all the buildings but 2. And one of those 2 is for sale. The last remaining building in wdm needs a massive overhaul to fit the remaining people in like cattle 1 foot from each other
Des Moines is considered a core site now but that will probably change.
@ax+1jrwtnns7 So what did the cloud team do? Did you work on migrating apps or foundation hosting?
I have been laid off for a few years. Would appreciate some insight on how WF is becoming more (less?) "efficient".
Not sure if this was already addressed, but the WARN Tracker website shows 14 employees in Des Moines were laid off 4/1 with a 6/1 effective date. Looks like this is the 11th round of Des Moines layoffs in the last 8 months. Scary thing is, isn’t Des Moines considered a CORE site?
Many in tech laid off. FU BE. FU Shart. FHY.
Big layoffs on the cloud team today. I'm feeling pretty good at this point. Enjoyed my time at Wells but ready to move on. Praying for all who were displaced that didn't feel as good about it.
Foundational hosting refers to the underlying infrastructure and services that provide a stable and reliable base for running applications, websites, or other online services. Core Infrastructure: This includes the fundamental components like servers (physical or virtual), storage, and networking that are essential for any hosting environment. Here are the characteristics of FH: Reliability and Stability, Scalability, Security, and of course Management and Operations. And at Wells we all know how stable and reliable foundational hosting has been. Sprinkler systems aside FH has been ok. However, some have convinced WF how inefficient FH has been -- thus lets migrate to the "cloud". Here, we get infrastructure as a service (IAAS). So all our spreadsheets that we made into web apps with huge ETL streams have slowly been migrated to this cloud IAAS. Now we pay the cloud vendors (mostly Microsoft) hu..g..e dollars. Another advantage of it being on the cloud is that all of WF can be assessed anywhere, India, Tahiti and timbuc too. So who needs WF Foundational Hosting when you got the cloud.
If you use an application, or several, to do your job then cuts to the foundational hosting team may certainly affect your productivity….whether you know the name of the team or not.
Foundational hosting = team that manages the servers/vm’s where your application lives…..
Thank you for the laugh.
Big cuts in Commercial Banking today.
Got merced today. CB clt nc.
I was a remote worker, and I was let go today. Feeling free, I could not quit because the money was very good. I knew God would have to let them let me go if He wanted me elsewhere. The past few months, I was growing apathetic, so I saw it coming. Prayers for all who were affected. I will forever be thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to work at WF.
@ab+1jrwtnns7 Show the class how unintelligent you are with a 4 word sentence, go ahead, we’ll wait. Oh you’re already done. Sorry, didn’t realize you were so skilled at it.
If you don’t know what Foundational Hosting is then it probably isn’t relevant to your situation is it?
WTF is Foundational hosting?
Buh bye flyover country.
Can we have a little more info please?
- LOB
- core or non core
- approx how many affected in the above
Thx
WEC, CIC, and remote all saw cuts from Foundational hosting.
My mom just told us she got laid off. She's worked for Wells Fargo for over 10 years and thought her job was safe.
fr OP: friend says teammate in Des Moines was cut
