Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

RTO is the final nail

RTO is the final nail. They’ve gutted pensions, outsourced jobs, bled morale dry - now they want us to drive in circles until we quit. They don’t need layoffs when they’ve we-ponized commuting.
It's sad that we're at this point, but this is exactly how it is right now. RTO was the final straw and there's no need for any major layoff rounds when so many people are simply walking away because of this.

Stank believes he can recreate 1992 by executing memorandums.
Regress To Office (RTO) will never achieve what he claims because he increasingly relies on overseas workers who will never show up in Dallas or Atlanta.
As long as trained Seals and Sycophants applaud his every action he’ll never have to face what a failure he is.

“other countries are taking over important roles because they show up. They returned to office years ago! No whiŋing, just winning...”

If you’re referring to countries with sweatshop work environments like China, Japan and South Korea, they are rapidly losing population in part because of ridiculous work requirements. Japan was supposed to take over economically in the 80s and 90s, now their economy continues to shrink relative to the rest of the world. Maybe think before you regurgitate BS.

@aa

in case you missed it:

If you love wasting time and money commuting to an office so you can send emails and sit on teams calls all day, here are a few other things you can do:

End direct deposit of your paycheck. Get a paper check and run to the bank to deposit it so you can collaborate with the bank teller.End online bill payment. Write a check and mail it in for everything - Netflix, credit cards, everything. And for your AT&T bill, go down to the store every month and use a paper check so you can collaborate with your retail colleagues.End all online shopping. You need to buy something for someone across the country? Go to a store, buy it, then go to the post office and ship it. Collaborate with your mailman.

Don’t complain. Back in my day you had to walk 10 miles in the snow uphill both ways to get a jug of hooch.

It’s called progress and evolution.

Execs are obsessed with pushing employees to accept change even when the employees are hurt by it. That is EXCEPT with RTO because the execs don’t get the ego boost of and control from being able to survey all that they command. We need to turn back progress in that case. Same goes for anything else that is more of a bottom up benefit than top down command.

Just work as has been done for over a century...M-F 9-5. Been commuting as well for over a century. Covid is over and other countries are taking over important roles because they show up. They returned to office years ago! No whiŋing, just winning...

It's so effed up. I would take a pay cut to have 2 WFH days per week. They should at least cut the pay of the 30% of managers still remote.

Maybe someday they'll start measuring on performance again.
